Akagi Character Book: ...And a Happy New Year!

All right, to celebrate the new year, I thought it'd be pretty cool to release something that I've just been hanging onto, wondering what to do with, for several months now. They're the RAWs for a Character Book of the Akagi/Ten continuity. Basically, every single character from all four series in the continuity (Akagi, Ten, HERO, and Washizu) is given a section describing them and their roles in the series, as well as giving some basic stats. Obviously it's not translated into english, because most of it is stuff you can read in the actual series, but I just scanned it because I thought it'd be good to have in the collection and I needed some scanning practice.

It's not perfect, but I am rather proud of the cleaning job I did piecing together this cover. Crump offered to help, but I wanted to do the whole thing myself, since I'd scanned it myself already.

Now, there are parts of the book that contain images from later on in the various series than the english scans have caught up to, so I took the liberty of making two versions of the rar: one without spoilers, and one with everything. The spoiler-free version has a lot of things censored and some pages omitted, but if you're caught up with the english scans of the four series, you won't have anything spoiled. If you're an avid reader of the Japanese raws, you should download the original instead, for the things that aren't in the english translations yet. This is the downloads page:

...But, I guess, there's not much point to downloading it if you don't know what it's saying, huh. I suppose I can help out a little bit by showing what the stats are for each character and how to read the little diagram on their pages. Below the cut is a sample character page, which I'll go over to explain what the stats mean.

Kazuya-Hen Chapters 1 & 2: We wish you a Merry Christmas...

Here it is guys! The long-awaiting first chapters of Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji: Kazuya-Hen! It was quite the wait, but it was quite worth it in the end. It's been several crazy weeks since the end of DKaiji, but you can blame finals for that. At any rate, the wait was quite worth it. See it as a Holiday Gift!

In the end, however, work still needed to be put in for the premiere of Kazuya-Hen. We start with our translator, Js06, who has been supplying us with scripts for so very long, allowing us to finish DKaiji. We move on to Crump Biggums, our faithful and furiously fast cleaner. And we have Sonickrazy, our proofreader and quality control. He's a pretty cool guy.

Note from Sonickrazy: Yeah, it's been me more or less that's been slowing down the group what with my busy irl, but I figured a christmas present would make up for it somewhat.

Spoiler Alert: Kaiji Dies.

Super Akagi 64 + Fan Art?

All right, it's more Akagi! I can't wait to see how Akagi and Washizu... wait, what? 64? Not 164, but just 64? Yes, we're going to go through volume 8 before hitting volume 19 again for the simple reason that we have a new Cleaner, Doc! This chapter took a long long time for several reasons, the first of which was obviously recruiting a new cleaner. The second was simply the fact that I am currently very busy with school and work, and the third one is just that there was a lot of content not included in the anime that took me a while to work through.

Oh, and the reason we're going through 8 at all is because I want to get Doc warmed up before we start busting out v19, since the chapters in v8-10 are much easier to clean. Much harder for everyone else, but cleaning is fine. Thanks to him for the hard work and making sure he got it all right the first time, and to Kazuhiko for putting up with the copious amounts of text he had to typeset.

Finally, Mahjong Day didn't happen because I didn't advertise it beyond a single tweet. Let's try for Saturday this week.

  • Akagi seems to take a slightly different look at Washizu than in the anime
  • Washizu's history is expanded upon, describing in more detail what he did to succeed.
I summarized it in two bullet points, but A LOT was removed from this chapter in the Anime. The first was rather interesting, that Akagi seems to be taking his impression of Washizu more as someone who is trying desperately to stay alive while bringing others down to Hell with him. It seems more like Akagi is mercy killing Washizu than anything, maybe even getting revenge for Yukio's death!

Akagi Chapter 164 + Cleaner Recruitment

Hey guys, back again with everyone's favorite manga, Akagi! In this chapter, the East 3rd Round, 2nd Honba gets underway in the most unusual way imaginable! Thanks to Crump and Kazuhiko as always for their great editing.

As you may have noticed, there have been no Kazuya-Hen chapters. This is because the raws are quite hard to work with and Crump is rather busy with his new job and with school duties. As such, we are recruiting one new cleaner to help with either Kazuya-Hen or Akagi to take a bit of pressure off of our one cleaner. I would like this new cleaner to 1: Have read the japanese raws or not mind being spoiled on the images contained within each chapter, 2: Have had prior experience in cleaning or be willing to learn, and 3: Have enough free time to devote to cleaning. While crump will have some free time come winter break, I am thinking in terms of the long run, and having just one cleaner for two teams is already a bit of a stretch. So please email me at if you qualify in the above three criteria. Don't worry if you're not a professional or anything; at worst, I'll send you back to improve something and you can learn as you go. Thank you.

Now, then. Hope to see everyone tomorrow for, hopefully, some Team Mahjong action at!

Akagi Chapter 163

Not too long a wait, if you ask me. Yeah, these chapters are much much wordier than the Kaiji chapters, so they take longer on average, though the first couple chapters of Kazuya-hen are very wordy indeed. Thanks to Kazuhiko for putting up with Yoshioka's rambling (He claims it caused the Twix bar in his pocket to melt) and to Crump for juggling this and his school assignments. I actually have it easy!

Also, I would like to move Mahjong Day to this friday for this week; I'm working weekends and would not be able to go on Saturdays. I would also like to suggest that we try doing some Team Mahjong this time to celebrate the triumphant return of Akagi. We can rank it just like we've been doing for 4p, if you like.

"Akagi is now left without any Knights, Rooks, or Bishops!"

Yeah, Kazuhiko holds a grudge against Yoshioka for how much he goes on and on whenever he opens his mouth or starts thinking about his Washizu-Sama. While this chapter did not necessarily get a lot accomplished, it did hammer into our heads that Washizu has a tremendous advantage in this session; all he has to do is run away with his lead and he'll be golden. But on the other hand, Washizu has ALWAYS had a tremendous advantage; he could afford to give up 30x the points that Akagi could from the very beginning. Most of the Third and Fourth Sessions had him running away from Akagi, and yet he dealt in time and time again. Though, this is truly a massive lead; no amount of winning (barring a ton of Honba) could get Akagi caught up with Washizu in points. But Akagi smugly states that he feels as though he'll win out in the end... what could he be thinking?!

Akagi Chapter 162

Ahhhhh! It's been a while, hasn't it, FKMTkrazy fans? Peng's had his time to shine for quite some time, but now I'm back with a blog for our latest release, Akagi Chapter 162! It's a thanksgiving day release as well, which has no meaning because this chapter has nothing to do with thanks nor giving! If anything, it's about taking, taking, and taking some more! Thanks go to Crump and Kazuhiko for being the dream team for completing this manga!

Now, for some blatant advertising. Mahjongkrazy has released not one, not two, but THREE brand new chapters of manga since I last mentioned it on this side of the blog: Two chapters of Tetsuya, and one chapter of a One Shot by the same author as Death Pie. Speaking of, we are now totally done with Death Pie, since said one shot was part of the volume as a bonus chapter. Go check it out at the top of this page.

"Without knowing any of this, [People] continue to live, wasting their time away until the day they eventually die!"

DKaiji Chapters 130 & 131

This is it! The end of volume 13! THE END OF TOBAKU DATENROKU KAIJI!! It's been a long time  coming and boy I am pumped for it. I know you guys have been waiting for it just as long as I have, and it has finally come. The last two chapters of DKaiji, enjoy it.

Now that is a terrifying glare.

DKaiji Chapters 124 - 129

Whoa whats this? Si-SIX RELEASES?! Well that would be called a SEXTUPLE RELEASE wouldn't it? What's better is that the saga reaches its climax in these few chapters! After this, there are only two more chapters of DKaiji that wrap it up.

Of course, we can thanks the folks here at FKMTkrazy for their work in putting these chapters together. We have js06 for his superb scripts, Biggums for his choice cleans, and Sonickrazy for his peerless proofreading.

This release is especially awesome for me because it's six solo releases! That may explain the delay from the previous releases. Oh, and a Chemistry and Biology midterm. No biggie though. And if you're wondering where Kazuhiko went, don't worry! He's just preparing to continue the other series that FKMTkrazy work on other than Kaiji. All our other projects are just itching to get going.

Nightmares inbound.

DKaiji Chapters 122 & 123

Hey, we're back again, and this time with another juicy two chapters! The end is quickly approaching but Kaiji doesn't seem to be in any better position than he was before. This is just a preview to the rest of the final volume, coming soon when it's ready!

Gratitude goes out to those in FKMTkrazy for their dedicated efforts on these releases. Js06 for his scripts, Biggums for his cleans, and Sonickrazy for his proofreading.

Muraoka's plans give Sherlock a run for his money.

Happy Halloween

Hi there, its Biggums. No new manga chapters yet, just wanted to wish everyone a happy Halloween

I chiseled a Kaiji Pumpkin

For this blog post I spent some time scouring for the frighteningest, chillingest, spine tinglingest images that Fukumoto sensei could conjur up. There's a whole bevy of ghouls and monsters straight outta the online pages of these gambling mangas. Be warned, below the cut are some severely spooky FKMT metaphors!

Who must we thank for such a gift? Well you can start with Js06 first, for his translations are what start off the process. The we move to Biggums, who beautifies the raws for you folks. Then we have Kazuhiko and I, who move the text to the cleans so you guys ca have an amazing script on an amazing page, And finally we go to Sonickrazy, who proofreads and check for errors before releasing it to the masses, namely, you guys.

Fukumoto-drawn Samurai battle. I'm done.

DKaiji Chapters 114 & 115 & 116 & 117

What do we have here? Another four chapters? Another QUADRUPLE RELEASE?! Hell yeah we do!! And let me tell you. These are the most exciting, riveting, and pivotal chapters since Kaiji realized he was being betrayed!!

And of course, we can thank the our team here at FKMTkrazy for providing us with this! Js06 for his Japanese-to-English action, Biggums from his dirty-to-clean work, Kazuhiko for his empty-to-filled efforts, and Sonickrazy for his vanilla*-to-chocolate transformations!

*Vanilla: adjective, 2nd definition.

Magic Muraoka. Coming to a theater near you!

DKaiji Chapters 110 & 111 & 112 & 113

A Quadruple release this soon after a double release?! Well, good sirs, we work fast and we work hard when we are able to, and this is the result. Enjoy the first FOUR chapters to the new and fresh 12th volume of Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji!!

Thanks to all those who made this gift to all of us possible in the first place. Js06 for the translating, Biggums for the cleaning, Kazuhiko for typesetting along with me, and Sonickrazy for proofreading.

Meet Mr. Butterfingers.

DKaiji Chapters 108 & 109

Woo! A double release!! And the completion of another volume of DKaiji!! Only two more volumes to go, and believe me, it gets pretty crazy at the end.

Apologies for the long delay, a random set of unfortunate coincidences coincided (unavailability, broken MSN, time zone differences, MIDTERMS) and something like this happens. Note from Sonickrazy: I must formally apologize for the delay in releases, it was entirely my fault. I had to catch up on assignments while at the same time fighting an onslaught of depression, which caused me to neglect my proofreading duties. I'm not trying to justify it, I am merely stating what happened. I'll try and get some more proofing done soon. inb4 rage

But still, thanks to the regular crew for working on these chapters despite all the circumstances! Js06 for his speedy scripts, Biggums for his crystal clear cleans, Kazuhiko for his terrific typesetting, and Sonickrazy for his precise proofreading.

In addition, I would like to point out a little blog that our dedicated and brilliant cleaner, Crump Biggums, has made. You find the blog here. I do have to say, it is quite amazing to see how fast he works. Plus, you guys get to see the progress of our projects a little bit ahead of time!

Kaiji: Certified Badass

DKaiji Chapters 103 & 104 & 105 & 106 & 107

So, there was a little break in the releases and you can probably blame midterms for that, but in return, we have a gift for you! A QUINTUPLE RELEASE!!!!! And you guys probably thought we couldn't top a Triple Release. Granted, it was a while from out last release, but the total time from scripts to ready-to-go chapters was just two days!

And of course, we can thank the hardworking gang here at FKMTkrazy. Js06 for supplying us with FIVE scripts, Biggums for cleaning all those chapters, Kazuhiko for splitting the workload with me, and Sonickrazy for proofreading all those scripts in almost no time at all!

As an extra, there was also a release on Mahjongkrazy yesterday! It was the 7th and penultimate chapter of Death Pie!! I gotta say, that chapter was definitely the best yet with all the- well, I best not spoil it, go see it for yourself!

Think...Thiiinnnkkk...BRAIN BLAST!!!

DKaiji Chapters 101 & 102

Woo! Here's another double release for you guys! It's pretty prompt after our previous double release, no? Nothing much to say here, other than that these two chapters are both glorious in their own right.

But you guys can thank the crew here at FKMTkrazy for that! Js06 for his punctual scripts, Biggums for being a cleaning wizard, Kazuhiko for Chapter 102, and Sonizkrazy for his prompt proofreading.

One of THE best metaphors I've ever seen from Fukumoto.

DKaiji Chapters 99 & 100

Well, it's not a triple release, but it's the next best thing! A Double Release!! Here's to the start of the new Volume 11! I'm going to be honest here, Kazu had Chapter 99 done two days ago; he was just waiting on me for Chapter 100. In my defense, I had a pretty killer essay due, but now they're both here, so no harm no foul, right?

Thanks to Js06 for cranking out these scripts at ridiculous rates and to Crump for being so ahead of schedule (Volume 11 is already done cleaning-wise). Thanks to Kazuhiko for helping me out as well as increasing the release rate and to Sonickrazy for adding the personality into all the character's dialogues during his proofreading.

Ah! AhhhHHHH! *Heart Attack*

Saturday, September 22, 2012

DKaiji Chapters 96 & 97 & 98

Hey guys, guess what? As a celebration for the great success that was non-Mahjong Mahjong Day, we have a gift for you all! Another Triple Release!! I'm been waiting a lot time to say this but what does that make? A Triple Triple Release!!! This is the what happens when you put the combined effort of FKMTkrazy all into one project. Absolute madness. I didn't even know we could run this fast.

This time, I'm adding another name to those whom which we owe our thanks. Js06, the translator, Biggums, the cleaner, Sonickrazy, the proofreader, aaaaand Kazuhiko, the typesetter who pretty much doubled (more than doubled if I do say myself) our typesetting speed.

Note from Sonickrazy: I'd say No-Mahjong Day was a smashing success, with 15 different people showing up and having it go for 6 solid hours! We'll be going back to regular Mahjong Day next week, but another E-Card game of epic proportions is sure to be in the making if we ever do it again!

Looks like Muraoka's...gone off the deep end! *Yeahhhhhhh*

DKaiji Chapters 93 & 94 & 95

Hoo boy, I don't wanna start spoiling you guys but look at this new Triple Release!! Yes, another Triple Release! Of course, this time it's thanks to our non-Kaiji typesetter Kazuhiko that this was able to come to fruition! I also do I have to mention that because of college and random illness (being in a lecture while sick SUCKS), releases might be...erratic. That's why we brought Kazuhiko on board! He'll be doing typesetting as well, to speed the process along even faster!

With that little message delivered, let us give thanks to the rest of the team! Js06 for his crystal-clear scripts, Biggums for his mad-yet-beautiful cleaning, and Sonickrazy for his lightning-strike proofreading. And of course, to Kazuhiko for his carefully consistent work on Chapter 95!

Note from Sonickrazy: ABSOLUTELY NO MAHJONG Day will be on Saturday at 22:00 GMT (3:00 PM PST). It will go until everyone has had enough, which has been after two hours in the past, but I have no idea how many people to expect, this time! It will be on, and don't worry about showing up late; we'll get you in on the next game of whatever we're playing at the time if you're at all late.

Let the insanity begin.

DKaiji Chapters 90 & 91 & 92

Wait did I write that right? Is that three chapters of DKaiji? A...TRIPLE RELEASE?! Yep, that's right. We here at FKMTkrazy don't screw around when it comes to DKaiji. We love that manga. A big thanks to all who showed up yesterday for Mahjong Day! It was awesome seeing a bunch of new people there! Believe me, DKaiji is that much better is you know the mechanics of the game, so don't be afraid to show up and play!

Of course, all this can't be possible without the hard work of all those involved. Js06 for his fast translations, Biggums for his ahead-of-schedule cleans, and Sonickrazy for his prompt proofreading.

Note from Sonickrazy: Nobody cares, but Mahjongkrazy released another chapter of Death Pie. You can check it out in the "Mahjongkrazy Branch" link on the top of the page.

Kaiji probably would of face-palmed if his nose allowed it.

So, since I want to get to know some fans of Kaiji that don't show up to normal Mahjong Days because they don't know mahjong (I'm sure there's some, at the very least), I'm thinking of doing a day where absolutely no mahjong is played whatsoever, and instead we play some other FKMT-inspired games or just do some board games like checkers or something. But I do have some ideas for FKMT games, which I will describe below.

(These games are all compatible with , which is where we will be hosting them)

But wait, you say, you can't do E-Card! If you just have people say what they want to play, that would let them cheat by entering in their card after seeing what the other person played! Ah, but that's where you're wrong. It is easily fixed simply by adding a "Dealer" to whom the card choices are messaged, and by letting him reveal them and keep score and the like. I'm sure I don't have to detail how the game itself works with real cards, so let me go through the steps that the game will go through.

DKaiji Chapter 89

Hey guys. It's been a while. I know I said that I was gonna pick up the pace because of the DKaiji push but real life hit me hard. But it's OK because this chapter makes up for it! We finally get to see Kaiji unleash all his rage onto Maeda and Miyoshi!

Thanks to all who once again for allowing us all to view this beautiful chapter. Js06 for his scripts, Biggums for his cleans (who at this point has finished all cleans up to Volume 10 :o), and Sonickrazy for his astute proofreading.

Note from Sonickrazy: Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT on Even those who don't know how to play are welcome to come and learn!

Unleash the Kaiji-Hulk.

So. What happened in this chapter? Well last time we left off, Kaiji had just pulled off his out-of-the-blue "toss my current hand and pull in a new one" tactic. And off course, he's not even close to being done with yelling at those two. Surprisingly, he doesn't even get too mad at Muraoka! I find this quite interesting, as it is a lot different from the Kaiji we remember from the beginning of the series. In the beginning, being tricked led him to becoming enraged and attacking the one who conned him. But this time, he admits to Muraoka that it was his fault for being tricked, and that the one he is really mad at, justifiably so, is at Maeda and Miyoshi.

But just as Kaiji is finished yelling at them, just as he demands from them a reason for the betrayal, they fire right back! From their point-of-view, they have all the reason to do so! Kaiji didn't give them their "fair" share after he defeated The Bog! He didn't split him generous winnings equally with them! But as selfish as it seems, the point is that they don't know that Kaiji, after a unfortunate incident, lost the majority of his money! So now what do we have? A mad Kaiji who demands a fair game, but definitely has some kind of plan, and a shocked Muraoka, who's previously "inevitable" victory has just been turned to dust.

Meanwhile, Kazuya chuckles mysteriously...

Akagi Chapter 161

Man, we're fast! Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the first chapter of the next volume of DKai-... wait, what? Akagi? We're still doing that? Hmm. Well, I guess you have to wait a bit longer for Volume 10 of DKaiji, all we have for you today is more of Akagi. At least it's a pretty cool chapter.

Thanks to Crump for tearing himself away from DKaiji long enough to clean this chapter, and to Kazuhiko for typesetting it and doing the sweet ending page. Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT.

"This dealing of Pei was a matter of life and death!"

DKaiji Chapter 88

I heard you guys like Kaiji, so I thought I'd finish the next chapter extra fast just to get it to guys more quickly. It's not like I was procrastinating on college papers or anything. I just love you guys.

And of course, thanks to those who did the all the heavy lifting before it got to me. Js06 for his scripts, Biggums for his cleans, and Sonickrazy for his proofreading.

Kaiji's smirk gave me chills.

Oh. My. Ultimate being. Now that's something I didn't expect. The readers and commenters were right. There is no way Kaiji's "Plan A" would work. It's just way to simple. And of course, Muraoka doesn't have any Ton to deal in for the first place. But Muraoka doesn't know that. He's kind of in a state of extreme happiness and has as much of an attention span as an ant.

But completely break the hand he made up? Throw away the 3-way wait and the hidden Ton wait? Is this something he had planned beforehand? Was it something random? Well it had better been because his new hidden hand has to be in tenpai in order to work. It's just...I cannot wait to see Muraoka's reaction next chapter, and really, I know you guys can't either. In my opinion, this is the last game, since if Kaiji doesn't win, Muraoka will. And I don't know...Kaiji doesn't always win...

DKaiji Chapters 86 & 87

Whoa?! Another double release of Kaiji? Yes it is. In these chapters, we discover Kaiji's plan...or do we? I still don't know.

Give a round of applause to all the members that help put this beautiful piece of manga together for you guys! Js06 for the all-important translation, Biggums for his uncannily perfect cleans, and of course Sonickrazy for his proofreading that makes the dialogue come to life!

Best Poker Face Ever.

Rude 39 Chapter 5

Haha, you thought Akagi was next? Surprise! It's another chapter of Rude 39, and in my opinion, it's a big step up from Chapter 4. In this chapter, we meet yet another member of the Miura family, Satomi's brother, Katsuhiko!

Thanks to Crump for doing double-duty on the Cleaning and Redrawing since Skutieos was not available, and to Kazuhiko for typesetting even though his hands were stiff from using a weed-wacker. Mahjong Day went well yesterday, let's get even more people this week. As always, it will be on Saturday at 22:00 GMT.

"There's always more than one way to get where you want to go!"

Thursday, September 6, 2012

DKaiji Chapter 85

And right after a double release of Kaiji we have another chapter for you guys! This one marks the beginning of Kaiji's counterattack! Whatever that means.

Thanks as usual to those who helped make this chapter a possibility for you all. Js06 for the translation, Biggums for the cleaning, and Sonickrazy for the proofreading.

Muroaka would make a great judge (aka gavel-smasher)

Akagi Chapter 160

And to finish off the Volume, we have for you the 160th chapter of Akagi! Will Washizu's underlings really act on their own?!

Thanks to Crump for the speedy cleans and to Kazuhiko for the speedy typesetting. I have a fair amount of Rude 39 chapter 5 done, so I think I'll finish that before moving on to Volume 19, but you're crazy if you think we're going to go back to Hero or something after this cliffhanger. Mahjong Day is Saturday at 22:00 GMT (3:00 PM PST).

Oh, and THIS is the most amazing reaction I have seen since I started this group, a big thank-you to whoever made that!

"Don't make me repeat myself...! I. Will. Draw. This. Pei!!"

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Akagi Chapter 159

And right after the double release of DKaiji, we have for you... a single release of Akagi! What fantastic timing! In this chapter, Washizu's Henchmen's concern reaches its peak...!

Thanks to Crump for the lightning-fast cleaning, and to Kazuhiko for the excellent typesetting. Mahjong day did not happen last time, but that doesn't mean it's gone for good! Let's try again this week, on Saturday at 22:00 GMT (3:00 PM PST).

"Here and now... accept this Dealer Double Yakuman!!"

Monday, September 3, 2012

DKaiji Chapters 83 & 84

Oh what's this? A double release? For Kaiji? No way! Yes way in fact. Very yes way.  Kaiji's got a plan up his sleeve and by Jove I will find out what it is, even if it's three volumes from now.

Thanks to js06 for his excellent translations, Biggums for his Photoshop magic cleans, and Sonickrazy for his speedy proofreading. And so, we move onto the chapters.

Muraoka knows how to keep his people in line.

Akagi Chapter 158

Heh, it's been a while since we last released a single Akagi chapter, hasn't it? Well, this chapter is quite a beefy one, so I suppose it's all right. In this chapter, Washizu's underlings try and talk him out of his ludicrous decision!

Thanks to Crump for the excellent cleaning job, and to Kazuhiko for his typesetting magic. And a special thanks to all of FKMTkrazy for making this month of August our most productive one since January, maybe even more productive if you count Mahjongkrazy's releases!

And speaking of Mahjong, Mahjong Night is tomorrow at 22:00 GMT. I may not be there, but who's to stop everyone else from showing up to try and outdo Washizu's Dealer Double Yakuman Tenpai?

"It's 96 THOUSAND points, sir!! Not 96 Hundred, 96 THOUSAND!!!!"

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Akagi Chapter 156 & 157

And we're back with two more heart-pounding chapters of Akagi!! You. Do. Not. Want. To. Miss. These. I've said it for every release in Volume 18, and I mean it every time.

Thanks to Biggums for getting the cleans out lickety-split, and to Kazuhiko for his excellent font choices. Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT, to which I may not be showing up.

"Akagi now had the first chance in a long time to see a flash of light!"

DKaiji Chapter 82

After that terrible cliffhanger last chapter, here's the next chapter of DKaiji! Let me tell you, I was just as eager to get my hands on this as you guys were.

Thanks to js06 for the script, Biggums for his way-ahead-of-schedule cleans, and Sonickrazy for his proofreading. And this time, I also want to give a special thanks to all the people who left such encouraging comments last chapter! It might not seem like a lot, but those comments really keep us going!

Thus signals the return of maniacal Muraoka.

Akagi Chapter 154 & 155

Just can't keep us away from Akagi! Yep, two new chapters, and I know I say this for every release at this point, but you don't want to miss these! We're on a roll now, even though I'm still getting into the swing of the college thing. Expect lots of DKaiji soon, as well.

Thanks to Crump Biggums for the superb cleans and to Kazuhiko for the very nice typesetting. Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT (3:00 PM PST)

DKaiji Chapter 81

And another chapter of DKaiji is through the gates. This one may or may not be the turning point for Kaiji, depending on how well I can predict the future. Thanks to js06 for translating, Biggums for cleaning, and Sonickrazy for taking the time out of his busy college orientation schedule to proofread this so it can get to me, and then you guys, more quickly.

No matter how much Kaiji pulls his long rope it remains slack. Is this the "momentum" Kaiji lost?

Akagi Chapters 152 & 153

And right after DKaiji 80 the other day, we have for you the first chapters of Volume 18 of Akagi! Sorry for the delay, I've been getting used to college for the past couple days and didn't really have time for translation or blogging or whatever. But I think I should be good now if I manage myself well.

Thanks to Crump for the quick cleans and to Kazuhiko for finding time out of *his* busy schedule to typeset, as well. Mahjong Day is at 22:00 GMT today on

Also, Mahjongkrazy has released the 4th chapter of Tetsuya. You can find it by going to the Mahjongkrazy branch link at the top of this page.

"Which hand are you going for, Washizu Iwao?!"

DKaiji Chapter 80

I'm back again, this time from Canada. Hopefully you didn't miss me (*cough* DKaiji) too much. But anyways, a combination of my road trip and getting a new computer led to this rather belated release. But it's OK, because DKaiji is here once again.

As always, thanks to those who helped out on this chapter. Js06 for his fast translations, Biggums for his insane cleaning speed, and Sonickrazy, who lives up to his name by proofreading the scripts as fast as a certain hedgehog.

Note from Sonickrazy: Mahjong Day is tomorrow at 22:00 GMT on . Dunno if I can show up, but that said I'll probably find time somehow.

Kaiji frowns so much his smile is actually just a straight line.

It's uh-oh time for Muraoka. Kaiji's Hatsu last chapter sent a creeping cold down Muraoka's spine. As expected, he starts freaking out, with Fukumoto artistically applying his signature wiggly art to emphasize the freakishness of the situation. Muraoka's second-to-worst fear is that Kaiji doesn't play the 1-man, which due to Kaiji's "sense of smell", comes to fruition. His worst fear is that Kaiji finds out about the triple-teaming deception they have going on against him...which of course we know Kaiji knows. It's nice to see Muraoka freak out seriously for once, as opposed to poor Kaiji.

Muraoka matches Kaiji's Hatsu, but Kaiji hits right back with a Chun, confirming Muraoka's fears. At this point, it seems great for Kaiji; he pretty much escaped, right? Well, as happy as I was for Kaiji at that point, I realized the same thing he did, which is that a "fair" 50/50 game is not advantageous to Kaiji at all. It simply isn't disadvantageous. But the worst is yet to come! Kaiji feels something slipping away! A ghastly fog around him is deteriorating, breaking apart! What could it be? Momentum. A heavy factor in all of Fukumoto's works, but an especially important factor in gambling.

Momentum isn't quite like luck. As I see it, momentum is like "being on a roll". The "drive" or "willpower" of a person combined with their "skill" or "ability", with a bit of luck (but not always necessary), can lead to seemingly impossible actions. Akagi has momentum mastered. But Kaiji has to earn his momentum. His "drive" to survive combined with his abnormal analytic "ability" allowed him to fight his way through the 17 steps, giving him momentum. But if that momentum disappears, how can he win a 50/50 match? Sure, Kaiji freaking out over a 50/50 game seems a bit immature of him, seeing as how he denounced Muraoka for keeping an advantage. But would you really want to bet 80 million on a coin toss?

Akagi Chapters 150 & 151

Hey, another double release to finish off the volume. Why not. Nah, I could've released 150 yesterday and 151 today, but I had been driving all day and I didn't feel up to blogging. But things are heating up in Akagi! How will Washizu's hand progress, and will he get his Yakuman?!

Thanks to Crump for the way-too-fast cleans, and to Kazu for being so fast at typesetting that I couldn't keep up with him. Mahjong Day went well today, but it needs more people still. It will be at the same time next week, Saturday at 22:00 GMT. This is the end of the volume, and I have no more of it translated at the moment, but I'll try and get some more chapters out while I have time in the hotel.

"Take a look! You pitiful, lesser demon!!"

Akagi Chapters 148 & 149

All right, I tweeted that we might be releasing Akagi yesterday, so to make up for the lack of Akagi yesterday, have 2 chapters today! And let me just say, these two are chapters that you will not want to miss!! I will be starting my 3-day drive up to Oregon for college tomorrow, so releases may be a bit slower, though I'll still have some time to translate in the hotels and whatnot. I've translated quite a bit ahead in Akagi anyway, so they might not slow down at all until the end of the volume.

Thanks to Crump for the excellent cleans, and to Kazuhiko for the amazing typesetting. Mahjong Day may or may not be at 22:00 GMT tomorrow, since I won't be there, but feel free to show up and play without me. Mahjongkrazy released another chapter of Tetsuya, go check it out at the top of the page.

"It is my fault that Demon still lives!!"

After seeing through Akagi's bluff and being shocked at how the heavens were giving him every way to win that they could against Akagi, Washizu turns around 180 degrees and begins to revel in the fact that he now knows he has not only the momentum, but the backing of the very heavens themselves, which he relates to reducing all that surrounds him to nothing.

DKaiji Chapter 79

Hey folks, it's Peng again. I'm sure all of you enjoyed that 9-chapter dump of DKaiji that we released upon you just several days ago. But I don't think that cliffhanger at the end of the volume was that popular. And so here's another chapter of DKaiji, just to relieve you from that awful cliffhanger. Thanks to js06 for the prompt script and Biggums for the amazing cleans and of course to our eagle-eyed proofreader Sonickrazy!

Special thanks to Biggums for taking it upon himself to blog ALL of the rest of the last volume. Sonic was right: jet-lag is not conducive to writing. Plus, reports of my manipulation have been greatly exaggerated ("Oh so you want to blog eh? Oh you'll blog all right, you'll blog all nine of these chapters at once!" *evil laughter*). I never said that to begin with. Because I don't speak over IM. I type. Besides, Biggums was simply bursting with enthusiasm when given the chance to blog. Who am I to deny his eagerness?

The top panel is my favorite drawing of Kaiji in this chapter because he has wolf teeth.

Akagi Chapter 147

Akagi Chapter 147 is now up! In this chapter, Akagi's Bluff falls to smithereens!

Thanks to our two machines, Biggums and Kazuhiko, for the ungodly fast cleaning and typesetting. Mahjong Day is tomorrow at 22:00 GMT!

"It's Noten...! Noten...!?"

Washizu's definitely in luck, here... there's no way he'd get three tenpais in a row if he weren't. That's all I have to say. Go download the chapter.

Akagi Chapter 146

Now, completely upstaged by the release of DKaiji, have some Akagi. We completed this one yesterday, but figured we'd give you some time to get over volume 8 of Kaiji before we went on. In this chapter... Akagi bluffs!

Thanks to Biggums for the cleans and for blogging about ALL OF VOLUME 8 of Dkaiji (seriously, I didn't intend for him to do it all, I thought Peng was gonna do some, but I guess jetlag accounted for that). Thanks to Kazuhiko for the quick typesetting. Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT.

"He had no choice but to assume the worst!"

DKaiji Chapters 70-78

Sup FKMTkrazy readers. It’s Biggums! If you don’t know who I am, you haven’t been reading the credits page closely enough. This is my first bloggy thing. I offered to help with blogging because I really wanted to talk about Chapter 77, and then they were like, “Oh so you want to blog eh? Oh you'll blog all right, you'll blog all nine of these chapters at once!" *evil laughter*

But yeah, we’ve got some real good stuff for you today. Our typesetter Pengy is finally back from his month long vacation in China, and with him he has brought us nine spectacular chapters of DKaiji! All translated by Jolly ol Js06, proofread by the splendid Sonickrazy, typeset by powerhouse Pengy and cleaned by yours truly.

Akagi Chapters 144 & 145

Hey, a double release, just like old times! Akagi's a lot faster to translate than Hero, for sure, but then there's less content per page. So yeah, I suppose we should just get right into it. In these chapters, the East 2nd and East 3rd Rounds!

Thanks to Biggums for the speedy cleans, and to Kazuhiko for the even speedier typesetting. Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT.

"He felt a sort of maliciousness... A bad omen that the road ahead would be fraught with peril!"

Akagi Chapter 143

As promised, here's the first chapter of Akagi Volume 17, and also the first chapter of the meat of the Washizu Arc, the Sixth Hanchan Session! As many of you have surmised, ALL of volumes 17-26 is the sixth hanchan... and it's still not done, yet! It certainly does drag on at parts, but let me say that if you sit down and read it straight through, it's a very rewarding and thrilling experience. So that said, let us start off with the East 1st Round!

Thanks to Deakachu for the cleans, and to Kazuhiko for the quick typesetting. Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT.

"The first round of the final, Sixth Session, begins!"

Rude 39 Chapter 4

And not too long after Hero, the latest installment of Rude 39 is up and ready for consumption! In this chapter, Katagiri and Satomi run into a bit of trouble with a Police Detective, and need to get him off their backs in the only way they know how: Pachinko!

Thanks to Skutieos for the quick cleaning, Biggums for putting up with the loads of redrawing I had him do, and to Kazuhiko for promptly getting his job done when I asked him to! Mahjong day is going to be at 22:00 GMT permanently from now on, so mark that in your calendars.

"Even my worst luck is still pretty strong."

I have quite a few notes on this chapter, a few of which I added into the chapter itself, though it was so long you may not have been able to see it properly. But before that, I think the best part of this chapter was how adorable Satomi was while describing the machine and reacting to the puppet losing the game for her. Aww. Katagiri was pretty cool in this chapter, but I think he was kind of a jerk to leave Satomi alone in the pachinko parlor. But he got a bit of comeuppance for this because a certain police detective (who is never named) listened to their conversation and tried to use his authority to extort some money from Katagiri to keep his mouth shut about Satomi being underage to gamble.

HERO Chapter 7

And here we have the final chapter of Volume 1, leaving the 24-Hour Mahjong War on hold as we move on to another arc that I'm sure all Akagi fans will enjoy. :O Also, Mahjongkrazy has released another chapter of Death Pie and Legendary Gambler Tetsuya, both of which you can find in the Mahjongkrazy page link at the top of the page.

Thanks to Crump Biggums and Kazuhiko for the chapter. Mahjong Night is at 22:00 GMT, on Saturday, August 4th. Be there.

HERO Chapter 6

For real, this time, I swear! Yeah, 11 days after Chapter 5, Kazu's charger finally gets back and his internet regains its ability to function, so there should be a few more chapters coming up here. I noticed that there's been quite a lot of votes in the poll, and I've been working on translating Akagi in the days since our last release because otherwise I would have nothing to do. So we're gonna be going back to Akagi after this, even though I'm sure that this chapter and the next one will leave you wanting much, much more of Hero.

Thanks to Crump for the prompt cleans, and to Kazuhiko for typesetting the chapter immediately after he got his charger back. Oh, and I'm going to start advertising Mahjong Night in every single blog post from now on... it will be at 22:00 GMT next saturday, because most if not all of the regular players outside the FKMTkrazy staff are from Europe, for some of whom 23:00 is at 1AM. Please make note of this.

Oh, and I couldn't help but put the best freaking double spread in the chapter as the blog pic, but it has spoilers, so please read the chapter before opening the blog post up.

HERO Chapter 5

And without delay, the 5th Chapter of Hero - Gyakkyou no Tohai is now up! In this chapter, metaphors are expanded, pons are made, and hope is lost and found, back and forth!

Thanks to Crump for the speedy cleaning, and to Kazuhiko for finishing the chapter in one sitting!

"When it's your time to die... I don't mind being the one to kill you!"

HERO Chapter 4

Chapter 4 of Hero - Gyakkyou no Tohai is now up and ready for viewing! In this chapter, Hiroyuki explains last chapter's strategy and the final hanchan begins! Thanks to Biggums for the excellent cleaning, and to Kazuhiko for the quick, accurate typesetting!

"All four players are fighting to come out on top!! It's a battle royale!!"
