One Poker Hen 157

Kaiji draws upon all his luck. Is he destined to fall helplessly or can he grab hold of that single thread-like string of luck?

Thanks to Sonickrazy for the translations and to Crump Biggums for the cleans!

"First card... To Kazuya!"

Well thank god for avoiding the worst case scenario. I started to think that Kaiji and Kazuya would both get DOWN cards. I think a period where they both get a storm of DOWN cards would be really interesting actually. To me, that would really put the heat on trying to read the others' intentions. I really want to know what Kazuya's card is now. Him appealing to Mother Sophie's cruelness and talking about them being on a team against Kaiji seems interesting to me. In his mind he really does think highly of Mother Sophie. Almost like she was another person. A person he can trust. Someone who has never let him down. If Kaiji has Chang and Mario, it wouldn't be impossible to say, that Kazuya has Mother Sophie.

  1. It's really interesting to see the match from Kazuya's point of view. His battle with Kaiji is a battle of morals, whereas most of the other villains gambled for more physical reasons (money/position/etc.), so maybe it might've been somewhat tougher to sympathize with them?

  2. Man that's such a shitty up card that when it was shown i believed it was a down one. But it is something i guess.

    1. True, but it still gives Kaiji something to work with, he might bluff and gamble more than one red life? Either way things are starting to heat up! can´t wait to see what happens

    2. It all comes down to what card Kazuya gets, if it is high no way he will get intimidated, but if it is like a 8-9-10 then maybe Kaiji stands a chance
