One Poker Hen 156

Kazuya takes aim at the new Asian Trio. True friendship cant really exist? Can it?

Thanks to Sonickrazy for the translations and to Crump Biggums for the cleans!

"Kaiji-san still has lives left!"

Woo! Looks like we can finally continue now. It was dragging its feet a bit there, glad to see we are back on track. I'm really curious about what Kaiji's next card will be. Another DOWN card? Will Kazuya also have another DOWN card? Or will they both get UPs? Or will the worst case scenario happen again? Even when they are pushed this far against the wall, surely Mother Sophie can appreciate two men giving their lives up for Kaiji! If that doesn't swing favor towards Kaiji I don't know what will!

  1. Thanks for the translations. Man, the pace of this manga gets to me sometimes but it's also really fun. Sometimes I wish I knew japanese to know what happens next!

  2. Wait, that life Kazuya took looked diferent, kinda black-ish instead of white. Did he just accidentally gambled his red life?

    1. Remember, that Kazuya won Kaiji's red life. Kazuya is now betting it against one of Chang and Mario's red lives now. We have no idea if Kazuya even would want to use his Red life. 2 Billion is not something Kazuya would die over.

  3. Man, ok, fine yes they are betting their lives to save Kaiji, but they are still total strangers, they just meet today, no need to be that jealous Kazuya, because one day ago Kaiji was all alone too.

    1. That's the thing though. In just a few short hours he has gotten total strangers to bet their lives to save him. Kazuya couldn't do that even with his school mates who have known him for quite a while.

I'm not sure if Kazuya knows the difference between blind charity and altruism. He thinks in terms of how this can benefit him. Every charity he has given has an ulterior motive behind it, much like Teiai.

  4. Power of friendship will take care of this.

  5. I do hope by the end of this that Kazuya learns his lesson. However, I feel like it'll take just one more dramatic turnaround to start to change his mind somehow. Wonder how it'll go
