One Poker-hen 117

Kaiji and Kazuya are equal! EQUAL!!! Each holds 1.2 billion yen in lives. It seems all but inevitable that Kaiji will win this next round.

Thanks to Sonickrazy for the translations and to Crump for the cleans.

"This feels like... I might really win!"

Kaiji experiences another fleeting feeling. He has experienced this once before. A feeling that everything is going so well, then he loosens up and his luck, his momentum fades away from him. He manages to keep himself grounded this time. As he said, it's easy to become relaxed when things seem to be going your way. He's been through it time and time again though. he will relax himself and then the tables will turn on him because he missed something small. He seems to be on his toes even while he's trying to relax! I need a smoke or somethin' for sure I say. Guy needs to chill out and eat a snack and drink a beer.

  1. Kazuya 100% has a 2. Doesnt make any other sense why he'd play the strongest down card (6).
This would turn interesting if Kaiji draw an Ace next round, and Kazuya got an up card.

    1. The strongest down card is 7

    2. The strongest Down card is 7 so, from Kaiji's perpective, he either has a 7 or a 2. But if you paid attention the black suit behind Kazuya looked kinda surprised when he played the card, so i guess the other card is probably a 2.

  2. So Kaiji was feeling a little too good. He should've played the King so that Kazuya thought his other High card was an Ace and played the 2.

    1. I was going to post the same thing you've written. I think Fukumoto writes so well because it's the same sensation - that we readers feel. As the people of this blog did guessed right what was going to happen, i think we will see Kaiji draw an Ace as another person posted it here. :)

  3. I've only just noticed this, but Kaiji can't go to the toilet while he's strapped in. This may seem like a silly observation, but if I remember rightly, in Kaiji 1 he went to the toilet to remove his ear, in Kaiji 2 he borrows more money from Endou in the toilet, and in Kaiji 3, going to the toilet was an integral part of his grand turnaround in minefield mahjong.

How will Kaiji return from the brink with no toilet to go to??

    1. Fkmt has been forshadowing this from the start! It's over Kaiji, will die in part 5.

    2. Most part of the rock-paper-scissors he spent it the toilet as well. It may sonud silly, but what if when you want to go to the toilet, the platform goes to the hole, then you are lifted down, where there is a toilet, then you sit down, fasten your seat belt again and only then you are lifted up to continue the game

    3. This is probably the best explanation for the hole YET!

    4. The hole IS the toilet!
