Akagi Chapter 267

A new chapter of Akagi is now upon us! In this chapter, what does Akagi have to say about Washizu getting to 1-shan-ten for Kokushi Musou?! FYI We currently have enough money from donations to keep this up for 4 more weeks. So we're still going to need about $250 more to catch up. Anything helps!

Thanks to Tambur for the typesetting and to Biggums for the cleans. There will be a mahjong night tomorrow at 3:00 PM PST. I have an idea for something to stream this sunday at 2:00 PM PST, but I might wind up not doing it, we'll see.

"But that still doesn't mean that you're going to win for sure!"

I remember my reaction to Akagi drawing the Pei being one of utter horror; of course this means that he can't get a Chiihou any more, but on top of that the Pei is a tile that Washizu hasn't drawn yet. In other words, if Washizu gets a 1-sou now, Akagi will be unable to play his Pei, so at best he'll be forced into a Pei single wait. Of course, the biggest issue right now is that Washizu seems like he'll be winning the hand on his first draw if left to his own devices. Is there anything akagi can still do to stop him? Or will he have to hope that Washizu's luck runs out in time for his first draw?!

  2. Hello. Been following the blog for a while yet only recently started wondering: are akagi and kaiji published monthly or weekly (and the rest of his series for that matter)? I always assumed weekly because of the length of the chapters, but that of course doesn't add up to the numbers. Also, is either of them finished in japan? Thanks

    2. Thank you for your reply! Wow, I thought he was patient before, but being able to draw the same game for over 15 years...

  3. I like how it says episode instead of chapter. Pretty cool

  4. Akagi telling Suzuki to hurry up and draw was funny af. Priorities.

  5. With Akagi's hand now containing a pei and a pair of 1 sou, it feels like this is going to end up in a head bump off a Suzuki discard of one of those two tiles. But equally with the critical part of Akagi's hand visible, Suzuki would probably know better. Quite intrigued by how this one's going to play out!

    1. But he can't. He needs a Washizu to pay with his blood since he can't overcome the point difference. A ron of anyone other than Washizu will end the round and kill him.
