Kazuya-hen 95

A new exciting chapter of Kazuya-hen! Now that this whole game business is over with who knows WHAT will happen next!

Thanks to Sonickrazy for the translations and to Crump Biggums for the cleans.

Kazuya-hen 95

"Your true nature made you press it?!"

I really like this chapter. Finally we get to see some backstory on who Kazuya really is. What has shaped him to the man he is today. Not everything is peachy cream for the son of Teiai. It makes sense that rivals of Teaia and the like would target key individuals and try to exploit them. With great power comes great vulnerability.

We learn that Kazuya really doesn't trust anyone because of what happened when his friends sold him out that day. Money Talks and Bullshit Walks as they say. If this really is the case for Kazuya, I wonder if he actually has any friends at all. Not just shallow acquaintances but someone who he go really spill his guts to and shoot the shit for whatever reason. Well, whatever the case, we have now seen an ulterior motive for the salvation game with this flashback. His sense of friendship has warped. He wants to believe that friendship can be broken for a price. That there is no such thing as a solid, unshakable friendship. Proving this would make him feel better about not having any true friends, because there is no such thing as a true friend. It reminds me of this scene back on the Espoir. Kazuya probably thinks the same way about friendship being bullshit.

Which brings us to Kaiji. The one anomaly in Kazuya's calculations.I bet he's always been curious about how Kaiji continued to win against Teaia. Kazuya may have been on the Espoir at the very beginning and saw Kaiji save Ishida. That may have perked his interest in Kaiji. From then on he may have continued to follow Kaiji through his exploits. He may have heard about Kaiji from Hyoudou at the Starside hotel since it seems Kazuya wasn't there at the time. A video feed would have shown Kazuya Kaiji's struggles against the bog. As he explained earlier with Muraoka, he knows everything after that.

Kaiji constantly defies Kazuya's expectations. At this point Kaiji has unknowingly built himself up in Kazuya's mind as the epitome of friendship. If Kazuya is able to break Kaiji, I think that will be the final step Kazuya needs to move forward into the dark world of Teiai. I feel as if Kazuya is still a kid playing around cruelly with people's lives. He hasn't graduated school yet. Which means, I think he can be saved. I personally think that for all of Kazuya's faults and torture he has committed, he is still able to come back from it.

  3. These three gangsters were hillariously incompetent

    -no Weapons at all
-don't have any photo of their target
-charge into a crowded Restaurant, instead of ambushing him when he leaves or something
-get easily subdued by 3 Teiai bodyguards

Seriously, if this wasn't an inside job by Kazuyas dad to show him how useless friendships are i'm disappointed

    1. - Is japan, weapons are actually rare, and these are no real gangsters, just some thugs/street delinquents/jerks.

      - They charge at the restaurant precisely because they don't have a photo of their target and thus need to gather them all in one place, that's why they decide to kidnap them all, a thing they probably were planing to do from the start.

      - They don't care about being seen committing crimes, even if they are small time crooks, they are still recognized by the real players, so they are stupid enough and confident enough to act like they do, they are "crazy fools that don't give a fuck about anything".

      - Again they are just small time thugs, of course 3 professional bodyguards were enough to handle them, their main forte was that they are crazy enough to attempt kidnapping Kazuya, even when they knew who Kazuya is.

No it was not an inside job, and yes there are people out there like that, who think they can get away with shit just because they are so "gangsta", but when it comes down to it they are not even part of a real gang, they at most have a crew and some fire weapons, well since this is japan their equivalent doesn't has the weapon part, and at most carries knifes and the like.

  4. Funny that "the epitome of friendship" known as Kaiji, has absolute no friends of his own, at all.

Anyway as if anyone would let himself get kidnapped just for some food and pussy, really Kazuya you can't be serious.

    1. Unfortunately "the epitome of friendship" is seen as a weakness in both Kaiji and real life. Since he's trusting and willing to make a sacrifice he just seems like an easy target. Kaiji believes in people, believes in trust and he's been betrayed multiple times for that. He's seen as able to be squeezed for everything's he's worth rather easily because he says under no circumstances should it be done!

    3. Is an one sided friendship that comes from a girl that only wants him for his body!
