A new chapter of Akagi is upon us! Thanks again to the donators for letting us continue! AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Thanks to Tambur for the typesetting and to Crump for the cleans. I'll be streaming Tenpai for PS2 this sunday, and there will be a mahjong night tomorrow at 3:00 PM PST.

"Can't we just have a normal game?!"

I honestly have no idea what the hell Yoshioka was talking about with the space metaphor. My best guess is that he was saying there's a lot out there we don't know about, a lot that defies human comprehension, like dark matter and Washizu's luck. But I can't say for sure.

I like how Ohgi was actually complaining about Akagi's good hand for a minute there. It really does feel like both Akagi and Washizu are going to start in Tenpai at this point... surely they won't both have the ability to get a Chiihou, and Akagi will only win because he's before Washizu in turn order? In any event, Akagi's hand is really amazing. Any tile from 1-sou to 7-sou he draws now will give him Tenpai, and something like the 1-sou or 3-sou would give him a multi-sided wait! Can his luck really hold up enough for that, though...?!

  1. Man, doesn't Ohgi learn? This isn't the sort of game where things like walls or "no way" or 'impossible hands' have any sort of meaning.

I have no clue how this hand is going to progress, or if it's even really going to be the last hand! Fizzy dizzy mote mote sure keeps the tension pumped.

Not looking forward to having to wait for him to finish chapters, I might try waiting till it's all over (that will happen, right? Sometime in my lifetime?).

  3. Once you catch up to Akagi, will you do a another weekly series or double up on Kaiji?

  4. I'm starting to feel like Washizu's gonna end up not getting them, then cancel the hand.

    1. Could he do that?

    2. yes, if you have at least 8 tiles that are terminals or honor tiles (different) he can easily ask for it, in this case washizu does have 8 different terminals and honors tiles.

    3. The required number to cancel is 9, Washizu has it.
As far as I know, this cancelling can be done only on your first uninterrupted turn. My guess is that Akagi and Yasouka will have to call pon, chi or kan in the first turn to prevent Washizu from using this option. For example, Akagi could get a pair of non-sou tile and Yasouka will get the third, then Akagi will have to let go of his chinitsu to prevent Washizu from aborting the round.

    4. Can we get updates on the total donations VS Donations needed in the updates that way we can keep things going strong and not learn we were short when the series isn't posted?
