The New Kurosawa Chapter 40

Hello everyone. I bring to you the final chapter of Volume 5 and also our last release of Kurosawa for a while. It's been a good ride and we have finally caught up to the volume releases. We expect to see another volume release near the end of the year. We shall let you know as we get closer to that time.

Funny enough we have now run out of releases for our two main juggernauts, Akagi and Kurosawa. With our coffers exhausted, we have no idea how to fill the time slots we have so diligently kept up with. Maybe we'll release one of Fukumoto's older releases. Or maybe we'll pick up Pen Chan again! Only time will tell I suppose.

The New Kurosawa Chapter 40

"We'll sell umbrellas through yesterday's rain!"

Looks like the rain washes away the pain. Finally after all their effort they are rewarded. Mother nature throws them a bone. A beefy bone. Things may have been rough, but that's what it's about being a homeless person, sticking it out and hoping for a brighter tomorrow. Even though they have so little, they still share it with others.
I've been thinking about this for a while now. Being homeless is a very dire situation. You've been stripped and exposed to the harsh reality of the world. It's chewed you out and spat you into the gutter. Even after having been discarded, some are still able to be decent human beings. I feel like this is the ultimate test of who is truly a really good person. Having been laid bare for everyone to see and still being able to find some semblance of peace. To share what little you have with those around you. It's like the homeless have created their own form of government. It's like the ideal setting to test out true Communism. Everyone has nothing, so everyone is equal.  What is gained is shared. Of course, some people *cough*kojiemon*cough* might have to share a little bit in order for things to work correctly, but I think it's interesting to view this community they have that way.

As far as seeing more Kurosawa, I'm sorry to disappoint, but we have come to the end. I thank everyone for reading up til now. I will be sure to continue when I am fully able to. Denji has done a fantastic job translating Kurosawa and I'm glad he stepped up, otherwise this would have never gotten done. As far as Crump is concerned, he's pretty much a bad ass and that's all I have to say on the matter. Take care everyone.

  1. "we have no idea how to fill the time slots we have so diligently kept up with." Huh? Just when I thought "Finally! It's Kaiji time again, yeah!!"...

Thanks for the new chapter of Kurosawa. Can't wait for what's in store for him.

  3. Since you don't have any other big Fukumoto manga to work on; I think it's time to update the hitlist.

  4. There are a few chapters of Gin to Kin that were translated really poorly, if you're looking for something to fill the slots before you start on something new.

  5. Frankly, no one cares about Fukumoto's older releases. Everyone just wants to know how Kaiji part 4 will end.

    2. No! I do care, and I'm pretty curious about his earlier works. But if possible and if FKMTKrazy is willing, I would love to see more of Kaiji too.

    3. I care about the older releases, especially pen-chan, but I'd rather have Kaiji than anything else.

  6. One Poker ruined Kaiji, I'd rather you drop the series altogether and focus on Hero.

And thanks for all your hard work!

    2. I will take bad Kaji over Hero any day of my life.

    3. What is wrong with it?

    4. First off, One Poker arc trivializes the current sitting counting game which was kinda cool, all stakes were dropped at the end and made the whole thing look stupid really.

Secondly, the game itself is too simple and involves too little psychology, making it boring.

And lastly, FKMT is trying to pull off another "Akagi vs. Washizu Epic", by drawing out the battle for so long, except he doesn't realize the game they are playing is boring and he pulls too many deus ex machina, e.g. "Kaiji lost, all is over, but wait!!! Kaiji proposed to Kazuya to make up some bullshit so it can go on, nnnghh!"

Kaiji became kinda like a typical shonen manga, no one dies, nothing goes wrong, good guys always win with friendship etc. It's not the Kaiji I liked, where people were dying, he'd rip off his ear, he'd get his fingers chopped off and he would actually lose sometimes.

  9. I'm a little sad that we won't have our weekly dose of Kurosawa for a while, but I'm really glad the volume ended on a high note.

As for any releases I would love to see, I hope the remaining chapters of Kazuya-hen could be released as well as some of Fukumoto's older works.

  12. What about Tonegawa? lets get that Kaiji verse going, at least lets finish the current arc before dropping Kaiji (since by reading the comments a lot of weirdos don't want to read Kaiji and are more interesting on Penchan and Hero, nonsense!).

    1. I'm pretty sure at this point they're just being spiteful and avoiding releasing Kaiji all together just because people want it and got pissy when they started translating it really slowly/not at all. There is no excuse for not translating Kaiji (other than them not wanting to or not doing it just to be spiteful of course but judging by the fact that sonickrazy always talked about how much he liked Kazuya and even cosplayed as him, I doubt they truly just don't want to translate it). Before they said it was because they didn't have a cleaner, but now that they're done with Akagi and Kurosawa there is no reason they can't just put one of the cleaners/the cleaner for those on Kaiji yet judging by the text of this post they're very clearly avoiding mentioning it even though its in high demand.

  13. Are you guys really almost caught up with Akagi? I remember reading somewhere that you would be caught up by Christmas.

    1. 21 chapters to catch up with Japan, if they release Akagi weekly that would be 21 weeks, now Akagi comes out in Japan ~once monthly, so you can expect 5 more chapters in those 21 weeks, which would be 26 weeks, and one more chapter in those 5 weeks, that's 27 weeks unless there are double releases/Japan skips releases. 27 weeks is 6 months and 9 days. So expect to catch up with Japan approximately March 1st 2016. : )

  14. Why not kaiji? the demand is there you got the other big ones out of the way don't sweep it under the rug because you don't like to you have to give to your community and Kaiji should be the next on the list I myself haven't read much of it but I can feel how upset these people are when you go on and on without any chapters and neglect it but when you do give them some you get praised for it so why not keep it up and put out more? sure there will be a comment here and there about how slow its been or butt hurt people wanting something else but how many people would be thankful will greatly out weigh that so just do it!

    1. I'm pretty sure they are picking up HERO and another mahjong manga actually from what I've read on their chatlog. So no Kaiji for the foreseeable future.
