Akagi Chapter 235

A new chapter of Akagi is upon us! Thanks very much to Tambur for filling in for me last week; I had a great time at Sakura Con! What will happen with Akagi's hand this week?!!?

Thanks to Tambur for the typesetting and to Biggums for the cleans. My PS2 is broken, so I'm gonna need to figure something out. If I can get it working by this Sunday I'll stream Kaiji PS1 then, if not I dunno what I'll do. Mahjong Night will be this Saturday, as always.

Aww, Washizu can't even be relieved for a full turn without Akagi spoiling it for him. But yeah, it's quite impressive that Akagi not only drew a Dora tile in, but also drew in the transparent one to show that his hand was still not Hon Itsu. If he had drawn in the opaque one, from Washizu's perspective it would be entirely possible for Akagi to have drawn in the opaque Pei and switched his single wait to it to wait on the Pei that Washizu had played already. For example, from a [234]m 6[789]p hand he could've drawn the Pei and cut the 6p to have the hand he actually has now. It's doubtful that Washizu is considering that Akagi might have passed on his first pei, but... judging by his expression...?

  1. Is he going to let the Pei go by again and hope to draw in the 1 Man now? Is there still a 1 Man left? This is getting intense.

  2. I think Washizu is just dumbfounded by Akagi's insane luck.

I'm hoping for an epic twist at the end of the battle where Akagi actually cheated the whole game, by something like having a really long sharp fingernail with which he pierced the leather glove just barely enough so he could feel up tiles or something.

  3. How many chapters until it's caught up (including the gap in earlier volumes)?

    1. Chapter 272 just came out this month, so we're 37 chapters away from catching up. The gap in the early Washizu arc is 18 chapters long, which would mean a total of 55 chapters (though those 18 chapters are definitely much lower priority compared to other untranslated material).

    2. 3 of those 18 are already translated though (82-84)

    3. Forget those gaps, they're covered in the anime, just focus on catching up.

Thank you for all your work.
