Washizu Chapter 8

After a long delay (due to me getting a job and to me focusing on subbing the Legendary Gambler Tetsuya 2 game), we have for you chapter 8 of Washizu! In this chapter, a new opponent presents himself to Washizu! And I daresay, he's even more evil than our beloved consulting firm chairman!

Thanks a ton to Crump and Tambur for tackling this beast! I may or may not be streaming something this friday, but we will be having a mahjong night this Saturday at 22:00 GMT (3:00 PM PST). Also, Legendary Gambler Tetsuya 2 is fully subbed and uploaded to my youtube account! You can see the full playthrough with gameplay and commentary here, or just the subbed cutscenes here.

These two weeks must have been Hell without any hot, sweaty Washizu in your life.

So yeah, apparently Washizu wasn't the first person to wager people's lives in an insane mahjong variant named after himself, Ryuujin may have been his inspiration. This feels kind of like Akagi vs. Washizu, only now it's Washizu in the young-challenger-sent-by-someone-else position, facing someone older and even more evil than Washizu during his arc of Akagi. Also, you kind of figure that Washizu knew exactly what he was getting into, which is why he was having Suzuki hone his body in preparation for the match. The physicality also reminds me of Kami-Sama no Iutoori, the manga involving a series of death games that are all mostly like this. This is gonna be fun, and also a little ridiculous, but that's what Washizu is all about.

  1. Thanks for the chapter. Please continue doing this series even after this short interlude. Even if it's only one in every twenty releases, this over-the-top cheesiness is great.

    1. Seconded here. I love Washizu so far, it's so funny and entertaining

  2. Yeah this last chapter is over the top in an awesome way. Looking forward to more!

  3. Congrats on the new job, Sonic! I'm watching the full play through of Tetsuya and enjoying it alot. Thanks for the hardwork
