Kazuya-Hen Chapters 36 & 37

Ain't no gettin' off this train we on! Yeah, 2 more chapters of Kazuya-Hen in 2 days, not sure if this streak is gonna keep up, but it's fun while it's lasting. Thanks again to Tambur for the light-speed typesetting, and to Crump for the shockingly speedy cleans.

I will be streaming more of the mahjong game about cheating, Akko de Pon! Ikasama Hourouki, tomorrow at 20:00 GMT (12:00 PM PST). There will be a mahjong day the following day, Saturday, at 23:00 GMT (3:00 PM PST) on the IRC.

Chapter 36
Chapter 37

"They're so different from the guys I thought were MY comrades!!"

Yeah, not all THAT much happens in this chapter, but we do get to see that the Asian Three are not clearly thinking of betraying each other just yet, and we get a flashback by Kaiji about how much better of comrades these guys are than Andou, Furuhata, Maeda, and Miyoshi. But Kazuya thinks that they're just acting like they're not thinking of betraying... what does he mean?!

"The one who'll betray... who is it?"

Yeah, quite a few good Kazuya moments in this one, particularly the one where he just straight-up asks Kaiji who he thinks will betray first. The wording for that page is a little wonky, but I wanted to keep the emotion the same, keeping the "who" part until the second bubble. The original is "裏切るのは...誰? (Uragiru no wa... dare?)" where it saves the question until the very end of the sentence, but obviously you can't do that very nicely in English, but I tried to do it anyway. Might've been better to go with "Who do you think will... betray?", but at least you can understand what he's saying.

So anyway, Kaiji thinks that normal people don't kill for personal gain, and tries to explain this to Kazuya, who he thinks has been fucked up because of his wealth to the point where his morals are skewed. I just like how Kazuya's all "You can call me evil, nasty or whatever, but don't you DARE accuse me of misunderstanding". Guess we'll just have to find out what lies in store for our asians.

  1. Thank you guys! You're amazing! I wouldn't mind waiting for as long as it takes, but having 5 consecutive chapters after a long wait definitely sweetens it.

  4. Amazing, you've done some really great work in the last few days. It almost makes up for all those months of no Kaiji releases whatsoever. Keep it up if you can, but even if you don't, thank you very much.

  5. So we're finally here at the classical prisoners Dilemma

I think all this Interviews also serve another purpose. It will skrew up their rythm. So if anyone of the three pushes the button a little too late, the other two will get the feeling that he's thinking about betrayal and thus start thinking along these lines as well

  6. I gotta give props to Crump. Typesetting these latest chapters has been harder than usual due to the scans low quality. Crump has done a great job cleaning them and I think he deserves even more praise than I do. My hats off to you Crump!

  8. Damn, there was a lengthy break but now you guys have compensated for it and then some. Thanks!

I wonder what is going on with the interviews right now. My memory might be doing its tricks on me, but I don't recall having such frequent interviews earlier.
