Kazuya-Hen Chapter 19

It's been a long time coming, but here's Chapter 19 of Kazuya-Hen! Once again, I do apologize for my leave of absence. But it was well worth it! I crushed all my finals! Except chemistry, but fuck chemistry. Another note is that I will be attending Anime Boston this year! From May 24-26, I'll be wandering the halls of the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Is anyone else going?

A round of applause for the rest of FKMTkrazy for holding down the fort while I was gone. They pumped out a couple of Akagi chapters, which were quite entertaining. Js06 is to thank for the Kaiji script, Biggums for the cleans, and Sonickrazy for the proofreading.

Never since Death Note have mundane acts looked so epic

Last time, Kaiji was having a heart attack over Mitsuyama mistakenly pressing the seatbelt-release button before Chang, who is the actual savior. But it's ok! Chang presses it only an instant before Mitsuyama, and successfully hits the button, clearing the round! However, Kaiji is rather confused as to why Chang was so slow to act. Kazuya explains to us how exactly the strategy of the game works, which you guys have already figured out. It turns out that this strategy was explicitly explained to the Asian Three as well! But only separately, so they have no time to come up with some kind of group signal or plan. But why explain at all? My guess is that Kazuya wants the game to be a test of the bonds of friendship between the Asian Three, and only that. He eliminates the "rules-explained-but-they-didn't-understand-the game" excuse. He even goes as far as to have the Three explain the strategy back to confirm their understanding (though I suspect this is more to prevent readers for claiming that the Asian Three "never really understood"). The biggest obstacle in this game, as Kazuya points out, it the sense of time of each of the Asian Three. Nobody's internal timer works the same, especially under stress.

This chapter also shows that any "betrayal" will be on purpose, as the betrayer cannot claim ignorance.

  3. Hah, it's exactly as i assumed, that the actual saviour pressed it a milisecond sooner than the other guy.

  4. I still don't get how, with the current rules, the game is testing human nature and the bonds of friendship. I mean the only way a player can 'betray' the group is if they screw up and press the button too soon/not at all. Nobody in the group would purposely do that though so how does this prove Kazuya's point at all?

    1. At this chapter i got a glimps at it.
You see, when someone is the saviour and he presses that thing before the third second is over, everyone will be saved, but without a single penny.
In other words, in order to prove that they are not greedy but care more about their own and their friends lifes, someone as the saviour needs to press it in the first 30 seconds, regardless how much money he desires.

It's a stretch, but at least, thats the only way i think they can prove or disprove their friendship in this game.

    2. It's Kazaya. There's going to be a change up, I'd imagine. Like, say, after 9 rounds, if you press it early, you get all the money but your friends die.

    3. I just realized... At the final round, if the savior wins he will get a third of 100 million (the final price, divided between three people), but if he loses on porpouse he will win half 100 million (the money they have won until that moment). Could that be the proof of frienship that Kazuya is wanting? Chosing to win less money but save your friends?

  5. Alright guys, this is pretty much unrelated but, are you sure you can pick up Shin Kurosawa? Hox might be busy right now, but you guys have about five on going projects.
In any case, thanks again for your excellent work!

  6. This website is one of the four that opens whenever I start Firefox. I check it periodically throughout the day. I will not die before I fly to Japan, meet FKMT, and play a round of Mahjong with him. Please don't take on any more projects. Kaiji & Akagi & Akagi. . . & Akagi. We haven't even got to the gambling part yet (you know where Kaiji is gambling?)

  7. My true dream is, once one of these major projects is finished... gin to kin. Though I really want to read Shin Kurosawa too... cries deeply

Please continue to scanlate what your heart tells you, though. I'll read any of it happily.

  14. Some retards donated money to them and they're too busy spending it, duh... I bet you'll see a post in the next couple of weeks like this:
"Oh hai guys, we've all been so busy with our real lives and such that we can't just go on doing this for free, so we're going to have a 2k a month goal, if we get the money we'll release a chapter once a week, if not, we'll hold on to them."

  18. Honestly, it wouldn't be so bad if they just came out and said something in comments or something instead of just staying silent making us wonder. I mean it doesn't take more than 2 seconds to give us an update on how things are going during a particularly long wait.

I appreciate the work you guys are doing none the less.

  22. All you guys who are jumping to the wild conclusion that we've gone to spend the donations on random stuff make me laugh... $300 does not allow a group to live a life of luxury, that's for damn sure. The most funny thing is that if I were suddenly blessed with the kind of money you guys think we have, I'd be doing this all day, every day because I wouldn't have to worry about education or supporting myself or any of the myriad of worries I currently have in this stage of my life.

I'm sure all of you would say that, if you were in our shoes, you would be working with every waking hour to pump out as much Kaiji (not Akagi, you don't care about that) out as you possibly could. And you know what? I'll call your bluff. We can use the extra help. Reply to this message with your email, I'll send you a few pages to practice cleaning or typesetting, whatever you prefer, and we'll get you revved up to be a full-time editor. It's not going to be as easy as you think it'll be, but if you're willing to redo the same pages a few times to get it right, and aren't going to cut corners, I'm more than happy to train you.

But if you're not willing to do that and you're just going to continue to fill up the blog's comment sections with useless complaining and whining, kindly refrain from conspiracy theories about how all we've been aiming to do was to take your money, and how we owe you the privilege of being able to read a manga series for free that was never intended for the English-Speaking population. I certainly hope that you all mature a bit and realize that the grown-up world is much more demanding than you apparently see it as.

I don't want to have to resort to deleting comments, as I'm a strong believer in free speech, but if this continues I may have to. I'm okay with questioning how we're doing and asking what the holdup is, things like that. I remember when I was in your spot I wanted to know those things. But hostility and harassment are completely different.

tl;dr : Apply for the group. If that's too much for you, stfu.

    4. What crawled up your ass and died, Sonic? Nobody here is throwing any sort of fit whatsoever, nor are they complaining, nor are they being entitled, nor are they being antagonistic. The notion that you ran off with the money was more of a joke from what I can tell, and even if it wasn't, it's not really insulting. Of course readers of FKMT would be suspicious and ask question after you disappear for 3 weeks. Your hair-trigger temper is completely misplaced and your overreaction ridiculous. Their behavior is perfectly fine, you've seen nothing if you think this somehow lashing out at them. Chill.

    6. Sonickrazy, you can easily avoid this situation as long as you at least pop in here every once in a while when things are taking longer than usual, just to let us know how the process is going. We would love to hear from you even when you aren't releasing chapters. If anything, you let this happen by not letting us know why.

Of course people are going to get ansy when there isn't even a peep from the people. Some people will over react. It's common when people see that something they love is in danger of being put on hold. This is the only place that translates Akagi, Kaiji, Rude, and the myriad of other Fukumoto works.

Nobody wants to see you leave, and you disappearing only adds to their fear. Please understand that it's their love for these comics which makes people act like this. If no one cared, this comment page would be empty. We love the work all of you do from the bottom of our hearts. Without you guys, we wouldn't know about Kaiji's Haku bait and switch. We wouldn't know about Akagi and pumping his body with more blood than normal to survive. There have been so great moments that you have brought us. Not to mention Mahjong night which has been fun in it's own regard.

Don't beat yourself up over this man, I know times are tough and you have a lot to deal with on your plate. Translate and release when you are capable, but don't let it affect your own personal life. None of us want you to release chapters at the cost of your health or your life.

BTW, Sonickrazy, I totally called Kurosawa being unfinished!

    7. Try and take it easy Sonic. Your loudest leechers are likely going to be the rudest and most impatient, not to mention youngest. My first year of uni was a run of poverty stricken emotional rollercoasting, I don't know how you find any time for this. Things do get easier as time goes on mate.

    8. What do you mean by "guys" here? You think that all of these comments are from multiple persons? Obviously it's a fucking troll kid, who doesn't have life, bugging for shit, and he finds it entertaining!
And we know that you have personal lives, your time can't be always on working on manga, we understand that, so you don't have to explain yourself, and not for brat like him, you can just tell us what's going on from time to time when you have the time, and that's it :)

Anyway, cheer up, and good luck, we'll always be waiting :D

  23. Sonickrazy, Atleast mask your ISP, and IP address when you post.

He's out partying in Hawaii with 12 chicks on his dick thanks to our donations and he has the audacity to threaten us while offering no explanations about what the fuck is going on. SMH.

    1. Your GUI interface made in visual basic is bugged. I've tracked Sonickrazy losing all the donation money in Japananese Mahjong parlors and getting into huge debt. There are rumors he got caught several times blatantly cheating, like trying to assemble a Daisangen from already discarded tiles and making invalid Kans.

  25. Well, I must say a big fuss over nothing from the looks of it. don't worry by the end of the month I should be back in action to do some long over due typesetting of things like Akagi. I just had my computer explode in a manner of speaking once it comes back from repairs soon all will be in order and I will return to editing and we can stop all this crazy speculation and such. If any of you join up as an editor I wouldn't mind though I am not sure how I would feel about others typesetting Akagi since I got my system on it already and I never enjoy people changing up my fonts and things, wouldn't believe how much that bothers me. Its a hard typeset and to make anything look good in an Akagi is a fair challenge but hey that's just my op, not sure how people feel about my typesets until I really ask them. See ya on the flip side Kazuhiko.
