Kazuya-Hen Chapter 12

We're back with another highly anticipated chapter of Kaiji! This chapter features the aftermath of Kazuya's beloved novel. What does Kaiji think of his masterpiece?

Thanks to the rest at FKMTkrazy for putting in the work to make yet another chapter happen. Js06 for the script, Biggums for the cleans, and Sonickrazy for his proofreading personification!

In loving memory of Koji Ishida: 19XX - 19XX

After an end to Kazuya's novel, what does Kaiji think? Kazuya believes he already knows the answer. That it was a thrilling, heart-pounding romantic tragedy drama! Kazuya: "the author of truth through dying moments has arrived!" Except not. Kazuya's hypothesis is that if a human is concerned, then their true nature is revealed. Furthermore, he finds that all humans' true nature is selfishness! However, Kaiji believes that insane situations leads to insane decisions, and that not all humans are inherently selfish! Kazuya is flabbergasted, after all, wasn't it Kaiji who was treacherously betrayed not once but twice by those he helped and those he trusted? Even so, Kaiji digs through his experiences, looking for any sign of selflessness. And he finds it.

Koji Ishida! The man with Kaiji that fateful day on the skyscraper bridge! Kaiji admits that when circumstances change, people can easily change sides. However there are those who maintain their humanity to the end of their life! Those like Ishida who fell silently to their doom in order to spare others! Even Tonegawa, Kaiji's opponent in E-card, when faced with hell, will power through with their humanity intact! Those two, in scientific terms, are outliers. Their willpower breaks the curve. They prove the null hypothesis, that some humans at the end of their rope, would rather hold on and fall than take someone else's rope! Kazuya's theory, in Kaiji's view, is shallow and tarnishes the name of those who stayed human until the end. Of course, Kazuya isn't too happy that Kaiji stomped all over his theory, so he proposes a solution.

Talk is cheap, so let's conduct an experiment and test it out!

  8. They haven't gambled and it's already personal. I applaud Kaiji for staying idealistic despite having been betrayed time and time again.

    2. Kazuya offered Kaiji a gamble thinking that Kaiji was too worn out from minefield mahjong, so it'd be an easy win. But then he was all eager and the like, so Kazuya wants to mess with his mind a bit. He knows all of this will get to Kaiji, and now he'll be all emotional.
