DKaiji Chapters 124 - 129

Whoa whats this? Si-SIX RELEASES?! Well that would be called a SEXTUPLE RELEASE wouldn't it? What's better is that the saga reaches its climax in these few chapters! After this, there are only two more chapters of DKaiji that wrap it up.

Of course, we can thanks the folks here at FKMTkrazy for their work in putting these chapters together. We have js06 for his superb scripts, Biggums for his choice cleans, and Sonickrazy for his peerless proofreading.

This release is especially awesome for me because it's six solo releases! That may explain the delay from the previous releases. Oh, and a Chemistry and Biology midterm. No biggie though. And if you're wondering where Kazuhiko went, don't worry! He's just preparing to continue the other series that FKMTkrazy work on other than Kaiji. All our other projects are just itching to get going.

Nightmares inbound.

So where does Kaiji go from here? He has survived yet another turn of Minefield Mahjong, but to no avail! Muraoka still has more tiles to discard, all of which are completely useless to Kaiji! Muraoka is quite right, Kaiji is caught in his trap! After all, even though Kaiji's suspicions are correct for the 8-pin, he is equally suspicious of three other sets of octaves of waits! And that leaves him with four measly discard choices, one of which is the fatal 3-sou! Honestly, I have no idea how Kaiji is surviving with practically no clues to go on. He has amazing instincts, for sure, but his luck is simply uncanny. Perhaps Kaiji does have some sort of guardian angel. A pitiful, destitute, and unfortunate guardian angel, but a guardian angel all the same. But how much can he do?

After all, the isolated 8-pins are looking pretty attractive to him now...

Young Kaiji makes me so nostalgic.

'Tis true, randomly picking a tile would technically give hima better chance than all of Kaiji's hardcore logical thinking. But that's not how the Kaiji works. As we know, he's all about the logic, and honestly, that's what makes us revere him. We don't a repeat of "hopeful" Kaiji, do we? We don't a repeat of the Tissue Box Gamble after all (spoiler alert). And so, Kaiji squeezes by another turn, by playing the 6-pin. Too bad Muraoka hits right back by discarding a 6-pin as well! But nonetheless, another turn passed is another turn passed. Unfortunately, this train of thought is suicidal on the long run. Eventually Kaiji is going to have to choose one of his "suspected" tiles, after all. But for now he continues down the isolated-tile-lane train of thought, discarding the 2-pin! Now the only isolated tile left is the deadly 3-sou! But just when we think it's about to be Kaiji's downfall, Muraoka encounters a problem! He has to discard an entirely new tile!

And I wonder what tile he's going to choose...

His dream come true.

This is it. This is the chapter that changes everything. EVERYTHING. It starts off normally enough, but it quickly becomes evident that everything it NOT normal. Kaiji finally caught his break, Muraoka has no choice but to play a new tile! And what tile does he choose? The fated Haku, the fateful Dora tile!! It's ironic really, Muraoka talks about being a "real man" and all that, but backs down for even giving Kaiji some sort of clue. And whaddya know, it backfired completely. RON! ON THE HAKU! RON!! Kaiji has finally emerged victorious.

But how did he do it?

Or: "Just as planned."

Well damn Kaiji, if you keep yelling, your voice is gonna break. Also Muraoka please wipe your nose. At any rate, Muraoka simply cannot believe this! He demands a recount! Err, a confirmation of Kaiji's victory! "Check all the walls!!!" he screams. But Kaiji ain't fazed. He just won a ridiculously large gamble, and I'm sure he's got his tracks covered. Or does he? Lo and behold, there are FIVE HAKUS IN PLAY?! Now how can Kaiji explain this little discrepancy? Easy! Because he's not dumb enough to cheat so simply. In fact, he planned his moves a long time before, as Kazuya figures out. At the end of the 11th match, to be exact.

But what exactly did he do?!

ಠ_ಠ

Kaiji is simply magnificent. The foresight he must have needed to even consider such an insane plan. The gambling that he had to do! He predicted everything. That Muraoka would open up the walls, that Muraoka would delay and stop him from entering when he was cheating. That Muraoka would "ingeniously" use a camera to take a picture of the opened walls. That Muraoka would find his "hand". And most importantly, that Muraoka, in his desperation to not give Kaiji any clues whatsoever, would end up playing all the honor tiles, including the one he needed! Kaiji explains in detail how he turned the 4-sou into the Haku, but that is something to enjoyed personally, as it is quite poetic.

Well-played Kaiji, well-played indeed.

Looks like someone else really needed a bathroom break.

Riichi, Fanpai, Hon Itsu, 2-Dora! That is a wild hand really, I'm shocked that Kaiji could pull that together and still have a reasonable trap for it. His foresight and skill is good, but it seems that luck played a role as well. But wait, there's more! What's this I see? The Ura-Dora for the Riichi? Almost forgot about that, didn't we? Well Kaiji sure didn't. With his luck now approaching Washizu-status, we have a 5-Sou Dora Indicator! The Ura-Dora is 6-Sou! And given the four 6-Sou in Kaiji's hand, that's four extra Han! SANBAIMAN!! 480 million yen!! Damn Kaiji, you're off the rails crazy. A tsunami indeed Kazuya, a tsunami indeed. But Kaiji doesn't think anything special about this. In his humble words, he was only a smidgen ahead of Muraoka. It could of easily been him on the floor pissing himself.

But it ain't, because it's Kaiji we're talking about here.

Honestly, what intrigues me the most is how quickly Kazuya picked up on Kaiji's plan! It happened almost immediately after Kaiji won. Muraoka might have had the wool pulled over his eyes because of his own arrogance, but Kazuya is definitely not dumb. He's seems to be much more attentive that Muraoka and he's seen Kaiji in action first-hand! This really makes me wonder how Kaiji's future match with Kazuya in Kaiji Part 4: Kazuya-hen will play out! It'll be a hell of a ride for sure.

  1. That was awesome. The faces of defeated villains are always hilarious. The plan was great, I definitely didn't think that that was what he saw in that sign.

  2. Aaaand the twist surprised nobody that read the comments in the previous blog post. XP

Great detective work, everyone. You got it exactly right.

    1. I respect FMKT for giving us a mystery with a fair solution. He's been dropped hints since chapter 81, and careful examination shows that the laptop and camera have been visible in the background since the very beginning.

Lots of writers cheat by placing their heroes in bad situations and then saving them with some total ass-pull move. Glad that didn't happen here.

    2. I have the weird suspicion that some of the "Anonymous" viewers have already read ahead and so their theories weren't really theories, they were spoilers. Of course, I do looooooove the great increase in comments and fan participation, so I hope I'm wrong.

But please don't spoil it if possible.

On a side note, AW YEAH KAIJI ROCKS.

    3. Seeing how exact one of the theories was made me think the same. I would never spoil myself reading raws, but I did think his theory looked pretty good.

  3. Awesome ending! Thanks for scanlating this so quickly!!!

I wonder if Kaiji will pity those two fools who abandoned him and throw them a few bones. I hope not lol

I do hope Kaiji shows up to Sakazaki's house in a fancy car so we can see his jaw drop haha

    1. I hope he beats the shit out of them some more, but he's Kaiji, so he'll probably be forgiving

    2. I doubt he'll do anything for them. I mean...they were seriously holding him back while Muraoka cheated even though they knew that if he lost he would probably be killed through a very slow removal of his body parts.

I'm sure Muraoka isn't done complaining about this, so I hope Kaiji is a smug bastard about the whole thing as payback for Muraoka's attitude towards Kaiji's predicament if he lost.

Actually, thinking about it, maybe he pissed off Kazuya because he figured Muraoka would try to pull some shady stuff and refuse to pay. He puts Kazuya in the same category as his father (personality-wise anyway), so him getting some backup is probably within the realm of prediction. I guess we'll find out in the next two chapters.

ERMAHGAD KAIJI, why are you so crazy good? I also liked how happy Kazuya seemed for Kaiji at the end and how excited he was at his plan. He seems to have a lot less disdain toward Kaiji than his father does. Kind of surprising considering what Kaiji said to him a couple chapters ago.

    3. I can totally see them asking for a share in his profits. Hope it'll end in swift punch or two though.

    4. " I also liked how happy Kazuya seemed for Kaiji at the end and how excited he was at his plan. He seems to have a lot less disdain toward Kaiji than his father does. Kind of surprising considering what Kaiji said to him a couple chapters ago."

Just my speculation, but I think Hyodo, being a mad and eccentric person, probably beat Kazuya and abused him in order to build character.

So Kazuya can probably get over petty grudges in order to see the big picture. Hyodo and Kaiji are like that too, like when Kaiji showed his admiration for Tonegawa's courage.

When Kaiji called Kazuya an ugly, spoiled brat that received everything on a silver platter, maybe Kazuya got mad because that simply isn't true, since he probably suffered a lot at the hands of his father.

A lot of people might prefer living with poor but loving parents over a rich and abusive madman.

I like Kazuya too, since despite being a villain he still has a sense of honor. I wonder how he will goad Kaiji into a gambling match.

  4. Amazing! Thanks for this sudden release of AWESOME!!
Looking forward to seeing the final 2 chapters =D

  5. Thank you !!! That was absolutely superb, one long Kaiji arc. At first I thought it was rather boring since mahjong isn't my thing and I'm not eager to waste time on learning the rules of it but it turned out it wasn't really necessary to read what was the game all about. That only shows what an amazing person Fukumoto is. Hats off to this man.

And again, thank you for releasing Kaiji. Akagi is rather boring, not even One Outs level but Kaiji is on a whole different level. I'm looking forward to the next Kaiji arc.

  6. oh my f****ing gosh. that was one of the best kaiji moments ever. I swear i didn't even expect that ending. Holy crap. What the heck man. I was nervous reading that chapter the whole time!
THANKS SO MUCH i freaking love you guys for this release(s).
I swear this made my day 100x better man.

    once again,
    F*** YEAH KAIJI WON.
i hated muraoka from the start on how greedy and dirty he was.
i cant wait for Kazuya hen. Thank you FKMTkrazy

  7. RON RON RON RON RON ROOOON!!!!
I love it when they do that in FKMT manga!

And then to cash an insane amount of money, even more than what they thought. That was truely some excellent chapters, thanks for doing this sextuple release!!

Now i wonder how often Kaiji has to play Pachinko to lose all that money again haha.

  8. I can't wait to see how Kaiji lose all this money at once in the final chapter. At least he didn't borrow money from Endoh.

  9. Ha ha ha ook at the prez piss himself cant wait for the rest and part 4!!! Big up the FKMTKrazy crew!!!

  10. So after paying back Kazuya, Kaiji is still going to have a couple hundred million to his name (does Muraoka even have enough cash in the safe?). It should be an interesting dynamic to see Kaiji actually have money and not be betting life and limb at every corner.

I assume he'll lose a chunk of it somewhere down the line. Wouldn't be Kaiji without his life being at risk in a gamble after all; that's when he's at his best.

That was a damn brilliant plan, though. Went differently from what I thought would happen. Pretty sneaky. Or as Kazuya said, that was just plain nasty and I love it. Our Kaiji is growing up :')

    1. Kaiji only lost 10 mil of Kazuya's money. The rest of it is all his.

    2. You seem to be forgetting about the 160 million that Kazuya staked him >_>

      Delete
    3. Disregard that. I forgot that kaiji is just going to give back the 160 mil stake. Not sure why I thought that was lost >_> My mistake

  11. Thanks so much, great stuff. Really liked the arc - better paced than the pachinko arc. Wonder if he'll take some time out, or try to double through Kazuya immediately. Hope he at least pays back Sakizaki and gives M&M some hell first.

Major thanks to the whole FKMTKrazy bunch for getting such great work out of the shadows so quickly. I remember the dark days of stalking hox & livejournal. Don't burn yourselves out!

  12. THANK YOU!!! That was awesome! Can't wait for the next two!

  13. SO GOOD! That moment after prez played the dora where Kaiji just tells him if he plays the dora with that much resolve, he can't complain no matter what happens was the best payout I could hope for after seeing Kaiji struggle for 126 chapters. You guys are the best, thanks for translating this so fast.

  14. Christ, what a chapter. I wish I'll see that in anime form one day. Thanks for releases!

On a sidenote, how will Kaiji blew through 480million - Kazuya's debt (how much is it now, about 100m?) in 2 chapters.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have a theory prez won't have enough to pay off and he'll be sent to be chopped or to work underground while Kaiji will be left with just enough to pay off Kazuya. And again he stays poor, seeing as apparently making a bet with Hyoudo's various representatives like prez doesn't equal making debts with their company.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I doubt that will happen. We know that the Prez already has enough to at least match Kaiji's initial bet of 160 million and since Kazuya said his loan wouldn't have any hidden interest tacked on, all Kaiji has to do is hand Kazuya the money he bet in the last round, while still keeping all the money the Prez bet. Worst case scenario, I guess Kaiji will be walking away with atleast a good amount of money and maybe some of the Prez's worldly possessions, including the casino if the Prez actually owns it and only pays a 'protection fee' to Teiai Corp.

also ok about the poll: let me make you a solemn promise that once you get to vol 24 of Akagi shit will GO RIGHT THE FUCK DOWN. and i won't say anything but there's been some development in the syndication that looks VERY promising.

    1. I could not agree with you more, v19-22 are relatively uninteresting, but 23 is where it picks up big time and 24 is full on Zawa. That's why my personal preference is of course Akagi v19, I really want to get back to it.

      Delete
    2. I have a thought about what's going to happen in that volume, but I'll keep it to myself until the time comes. Suffice to say, I think Washizu is going to get put on the ropes even after that DY.

      Delete
    3. Nah, its game over for Akagi. That double yakuman sealed Washizu's victory in stone 100% and the rest of Akagi is just Washizu doing a victory jig while the narrator uses metaphors to describe how great he is. No more dramatic tension, just Washizu and his white suits celebrating and dancing while Akagi cries Boo-hoo. That's why I'm so excited to get back to it.

      Delete
    4. Speaking of that, is Akagi still running? Wiki says it does but maybe they didn't update it.

  19. I loved seeing Kaiji win, but I'm apprehensive about too many things. I want to see the money in his hand, and I want to see his "friends'" reaction to realizing Kaiji was telling the truth (if they ever do).

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hate to say it, but the Prez isn't worth 500 mil.
Kaiji -may- get something out of it but only enough to be tempted by Kazuya's offer for gambling? After all, if Kaiji really was rich, he would at least have to waste it all before getting into another crazy gamble. Since, the kid is here, I'm sure he'll invite Kaiji to another gamble and Kaiji will accept because he wants that type of shit.

  21. I wonder how Kaiji will lose his winnings. We can't have a rich Kaiji, can we?

    Kaiji season 3 anyone?

  22. I love you guys! You've done such a great job on this series. I remember like 2 years ago I thought I would be able to read Kazuya-hen if I'm in my 30s or something.
The ending was really clever and a fitting finale for the third season. Can't wait to see it animated.

As much as I would like to see v.8-10 scanlated for my archive, I can't wait to see what happens next! The other shit can wait! We've lasted long enough without our beloved Akagi ^__^

  23. Awesome work, thanks guys! I really enjoyed these chapters, guess i will start reading DKaiji over from the beginning once i get enough free time.
