Akagi Chapter 163

Not too long a wait, if you ask me. Yeah, these chapters are much much wordier than the Kaiji chapters, so they take longer on average, though the first couple chapters of Kazuya-hen are very wordy indeed. Thanks to Kazuhiko for putting up with Yoshioka's rambling (He claims it caused the Twix bar in his pocket to melt) and to Crump for juggling this and his school assignments. I actually have it easy!

Also, I would like to move Mahjong Day to this friday for this week; I'm working weekends and would not be able to go on Saturdays. I would also like to suggest that we try doing some Team Mahjong this time to celebrate the triumphant return of Akagi. We can rank it just like we've been doing for 4p, if you like.

"Akagi is now left without any Knights, Rooks, or Bishops!"

Yeah, Kazuhiko holds a grudge against Yoshioka for how much he goes on and on whenever he opens his mouth or starts thinking about his Washizu-Sama. While this chapter did not necessarily get a lot accomplished, it did hammer into our heads that Washizu has a tremendous advantage in this session; all he has to do is run away with his lead and he'll be golden. But on the other hand, Washizu has ALWAYS had a tremendous advantage; he could afford to give up 30x the points that Akagi could from the very beginning. Most of the Third and Fourth Sessions had him running away from Akagi, and yet he dealt in time and time again. Though, this is truly a massive lead; no amount of winning (barring a ton of Honba) could get Akagi caught up with Washizu in points. But Akagi smugly states that he feels as though he'll win out in the end... what could he be thinking?!

  1. Just guessing that a massive direct hit or two will drain Washizu of his funds. At that point he'll need to put up his own blood in order to play onwards I assume, then Akagi will need to kill Washizu before the round ends and Washizu wins with the point advantage. Haven't read raws fwiw

  2. I thought that Kaiji was a primary project and Akagi a secondary but here we have 2 Akagi chapters in a row and no Kaiji...

    1. There are two teams translating, a Kaiji team and an Everything Else team, neither of which is a primary team. I know you've been spoiled with so much Kaiji, but please be patient and let the Akagi fans have their fun

    3. I'm happy with any release, started reading Akagi when DKaiji ended and I already caught up with the latest chapter. Its very interesting for a story we all know the ending of -sort of-.

How many chapters of Rude 39 are there? I want to read it, but since its just a volume I'd rather wait 'till you start releasing these chapters again.

  3. Damn that white suit is right. I don't know how Akagi will make some hits on Washizu to even him up. Perhaps trying to lure him in into some "Akagi killing scheme" to get some more dangerous discards.

  4. It's BEYOND absolutely BEYOND idiocy to put time & effort into scanlating the portion of the manga that was already covered in the Anime. I love you guys but ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED? Atleast, start off where the anime left off, ffs... How stupid can you guys get?

Again, I love you guys, you're good, hardworking group but stop being fussy assholes. Why do you think people r here in the first place? THE FUCKING ANIME! Or else the manga would have nvr seen daylight internationally.

So pretty please w/ 2 sugars on top, get your head out of your ass and stop pretending the anime doesn't exist or as if this isn't a colossal waste of everyones time SINCE WE'VE ALL SEEN IT 5 YEARS AGO!

If u wanna do Akagi atleast start where the anime left off, no one gives a shit about this right now...

    3. So this is the kind of guy that makes you want to stop scanlating stuff for others. Luckily we don't have any more of those.

    4. Yes, screaming and insulting someone will clearly make them do your bidding. Especially if it is over the internet and you have no power over them.

      Who let /jp/ in?

    5. But...this is past where the anime...and they...but...what?

  7. Seriously I love you guys but can you please stop being FUSSY ASSHOLES and just translate the part where the anime left off already? I mean Washizu clearly had a Double Yakuman in the anime, don't you guys remember?

    Does Washizu allow Paarenchan? :3

  8. Yeah...running away from Akagi's hands didn't do much good for Washizu so far, so that's not going to cut it (obviously, since we already know the end result of this battle to some degree).

I'm still on board with the blood v. blood battle. Basically ignore the points and focus on killing the other person before the session ends. Seems about right for what Akagi's been wanting all this time - a battle to the death with an equal opponent. We'd certainly see that "true form" of Washizu Akagi mentioned a while back if his life was on the line.

Things are starting to heat up, and it's awesome. Thanks for your hard work everybody!

  9. Thank you for the Akagi chapters. I know we all know how it turns out if we've read Ten but I still love reading Akagi and really appreciate every new chapter.

  10. Looks like doing nothing but DKaiji for so long was a bad idea. I set up a poll, Akagi won, what more do you want me to do? I said it already, but everyone clamoring against Akagi here is just being a spoiled brat, worse than Kazuya. You won't get what you want just by swearing at me and making up shit like doing the parts covered by the anime, that's not how it works. I've been intending to come back to Akagi after DKaiji ever since I first said we'd be doing it alone, and doing nothing but proofreading for all this time has really made me want to get back to translating.

Please also note that this is *FKMTKRAZY* not *KAIJIKRAZY*, we want to see ALL of fkmt translated for the english population. "But sonic durr hurr Kaiji is fkmt so u should do all of kaiji then i can stop coming here mmkay" No, fuck you. I don't care if you don't like Akagi or mahjong or whatever, but please don't try and tell me to give a middle finger to those who do, including myself. There are TWO TEAMS, once we get going we'll be releasing Kaiji just as fast as Akagi. If you don't like Akagi, don't fucking click on these blog posts.

    1. I prefer Akagi. Please do more Akagi. I check your blog every single day to see if there are more Akagi chapters. I read Kaiji too but I also really appreciate you scanlating more Akagi. Thanks again.

    2. I only started on Kaiji because it was the same mangaka as Akagi, now I like both very much and am very happy you guys did Kaiji only for the time because that arc sure got crazy near the end... But now with the new arc of Kaiji, if you'd keep it up at that speed you would probably finish before Fukumoto does so there is going to be a long wait in between the later volumes.

So I'd rather see you do both Akagi and Kaiji at the same time from this point on.

And for these idiots who can't understand that for Akagi the start of volume 13 is where the anime left off... Well, you're a moron, do some research!

      "Anime Start/End Chapter
Starts at Vol 1, Chap 1 Ends at Vol 13, Chap 109 (Skips Vol 6 Chap 51 to Vol 7 Chap 56)"
ITS NOT THAT HARD, you can get the most right here on the download page and the rest @ mangafox or wherever.

I can understand how its disappointing that there are missing chapters/volumes (where the fuck are vol 8-10) these ARE covered in the anime however.

I (re)watched and read Akagi about a week ago, read the part they skipped in the anime and read the manga from the end of vol 12. to this chapter, its not hard to understand...

So do what I did, or not.. But stop whining about how you don't understand. Whoever you are.

Sonickrazy, You guyz r basically the only group that scanlates kaiji, and not only I appreciate that but I also respect you for it. As I said I love you guys, and I mean that. I just had to vent my anger. But I had absolutely no desire to insult you or any of your crew. You guys r the only crew w/ the backbone to actually follow through w/ these 'relatively' unknown projects that have a small but hardcore fanbase.

Tbh I had no idea you were covering outside of the anime, my memory is a bit hazy but I thought Akagi killed/beat Washizu in the anime and that was the end of that. And I'm shocked that accordin' to u guys the anime decided to make a filler out of cannon source material...?

Anyhow, I was just pissed off, don't take it to <3. And do w/e u suits you best.

ps. nah, I love mahjong. But Akagi's character as a whole is too inconceivable for me to like, it's completely out of touch w/ reality, the polar opposite of Kaiji.

    4. @troll:
How can you say you respect and love them but call them retards and assholes in the same breath?

If you love mahjong there should be no problem because Akagi is first and foremost a manga about mahjong. Putting Kaiji in his spot wouldn't change all too much about it.

    5. Akagi is not shown beating Washisu, but its implied since the final shot is one of an old looking Akagi walking down some road in 1999. The anime actually ends after he trows out his blood and Washisu agrees to playing another 2 game set. This also happens in vol 13 of the manga and then the story just continues onward...

    6. Obvious troll... I think its encouraging in a way. Its good to know that the great works of Fukumoto are being enjoyed by more than a small circle of hardcore fans.

If the work of the FKMTKrazy 'guyz' is being noticed by people this demented then that's a job well done IMHO. Thanks for the chapters - I forgot how much I missed Akagi

  11. Please, don't let yourself get discouraged guys. Just laugh it off, coz it's something like this: http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/our+society_2123dc_4040543.jpg

Imo we -- readers have no right to complain about anything. I actually feel ashamed, coz only thing i can do to show appreciation is to write thank you and thank you again.

99.9% love you guys and are grateful for any and all releases, days apart or years apart, for Akagi or Kaiji or whatever else. Keep up the great work!

  16. Personally I'm always glad to see more Akagi. The anime was my first FKMT series, and I consider the whole Akagi/Ten story to be Fukumoto's real magnum opus, not Kaiji (which I still love, but not as much).

What I'm trying to say is, don't let the haters get to you (it kinda surprises me that there are any at all because this is usually such a quiet little fandom).
