DKaiji Chapters 114 & 115 & 116 & 117

What do we have here? Another four chapters? Another QUADRUPLE RELEASE?! Hell yeah we do!! And let me tell you. These are the most exciting, riveting, and pivotal chapters since Kaiji realized he was being betrayed!!

And of course, we can thank the our team here at FKMTkrazy for providing us with this! Js06 for his Japanese-to-English action, Biggums from his dirty-to-clean work, Kazuhiko for his empty-to-filled efforts, and Sonickrazy for his vanilla*-to-chocolate transformations!

*Vanilla: adjective, 2nd definition.

Magic Muraoka. Coming to a theater near you!

So when we last left off, Kaiji was not in a good position. He has no clues to go on. A single Nan tile is nothing for anyone to go on, frankly. And Muraoka knows that. So what can Kaiji do? Well it seems his go-to solution is fairly simple: go to the bathroom. By ordering (*ahem* advising) that Muraoka flip down his tiles, he sends Muraoka into disbelief, and taking advantage of that disbelief, he nonchalantly grabs his tiles and puts them into his pockets. After all, Kaiji isn't that stupid, right? Well Muraoka certainly believes so, but now that Kaiji has left the room, what can Muraoka do?

Hint: not have good sportsmanship.

"I discovered what 2 minus 1 equals!!!"

Awww shnikes. This ain't good for our hero Kaiji. Not good at all. Maeda wastes no time, immediately dashing over to look at Kaiji's discards. Tsk tsk, Maeda. You've fallen. I would of expected Muraoka to be the first one. Thankfully, his suggestions, though sensible, are not enough for Muraoka. unfortunately, Muraoka's idea is much worse. In a most grotesque two-page spread, Muraoka has a revelation!! (Though I still can't get over how utterly ridiculous Muraoka looks in the bottom-left corner. Just gawk at that stupid look on his face.) But his plan is nothing to laugh at. It's evil! Heinous! NEFARIOUS!! Flip over all the tiles, and the missing ones are...Kaiji's hand.

AWWW SHNIKES.

Go go Muraoka Rangers!!

Muraoka really went beyond my expectations this time. Screw looking at your opponent's hand, why not just look at every other tile instead?! Genius, or ingenious, depending on how you see it. And so the entire set of tiles are revealed. I'm sure some savvy reader will from that decipher Kaiji's hand, even without the knowledge of the few tiles behind the text bubble cactus. But it won't go so smoothly for Muraoka this time! KAIJI COMES RUNNING! PUTTING USAIN BOLT TO SHAME HE COMES RUNNING!! But Muraoka sends his team of monkeys henchmen after Kaiji to stop him! Maeda and Miyoshi go out running too! But they go to intercept Kaiji, spitting out more lies and filth than a politician!! And Kaiji, like a true citizen, is forced to listen to them while helplessly being held back from his salvation.

Meanwhile, Muraoka comes up with yet another idea...

No description available.

But forget that! Kaiji is putting his foot down!! He tricks Maeda and Miyoshi (easily enough) and right when they let go, WHAM!! Fly like a bird, sting like a bee! Kaiji introduces Maeda to his left hook and Miyoshi to his right straight. And then like a true gentleman, he kicks them while they're down and runs. Towards the door of destiny! Towards his guaranteed victory!! And as he grabs the doorknob and pulls...It is stuck!! Held closed by a loyal servant of the President! But Kaiji don't care! He pulls that door open and greet the doorman heartily (with his right fist)! But as he finally enters...! Nothing. The tiles are back to what they were before, somewhat, but there is no conclusive evidence that Muraoka or his men messed with it. Muraoka, that crafty man, even throws some tiles down to make it seems like his clumsy self caused both the disturbance in the tiles and the held-closed door!

Whatchu you gonna do now, Kaiji?

    1. Haha, yeah Kaiji didn't manage to catch Muraoka cheating, but at least he got to beat the crap out of those two.

  3. Thanks for the releases as always, guys! I don't think I've ever been so happy in my life to see someone get punched in the face.

I sympathized with Miyoshi and Maeda earlier because they entrusted their lives and money to Kaiji, but what they did in this set of chapters ("5 million...!") was just so disgusting.

  4. holy crap that was good.
I felt like these were one of the best chapters out of the datenroku volumes.
Not to mention it was a quadruple release in a week break of kaiji so it felt much better.
    thank you!

    1. I agree. These were some of the best chapters in DKaiji...so far. The upcoming ones are...Well I don't want to spoil it but they're good.

The funny part is that it only seems like a week-long break because we've been releasing so frequently lately.

  5. man i cant wait to see how/if he gets out of this

  6. Thank you for the batch release, the wait between 115 and 116 would have been unbearable.

  7. You were right, these chapters were amazing!
At first Kaijis bathroom break, with everyone confused on what the hell is going on, that was such an Akagi moment.
Then he came back RUNNING! I was literally laughing out loud, that was awesome.
But the best thing in those four chapters was, Kaiji beating the crap out of Maeda and Miyoshi, FINALLY!

But of course the uneven tiles were quite amazing too. It's like too obvious he cheated, but he can't really prove it. But damn, it is obvious. And unlucky for Kaiji, all of Muraoka tiles fell face down too!

Not only that, but even though Muraoka had no time to count the tiles, he probably still has a general overview of what is left, not to mention he knows Kaijis discards.

That backfired completely. (Not to mention he could have done something with his own discards aswell, maybe.)

    That was truely amazing

  8. Superb chapters. Thank you. Also Kaiji's punches were more awesome than Ippo's :P.

  9. I loved Muraoka's 270 degree hand-pumping pose and the "Problems?" face after the tile peeking.

  10. I love fkmt violence. This was batter than the andou kick and probably only seconded by the epic foot chewing incident in the orig MKaiji. no-one gets the tension over 9000 quite like fkmt. Thanks a lot guys

  11. Of course, we all know that this is going to be one of Kaiji's tricks-within-a-trick, where he deliberately allows an obvious plan to backfire to conceal some other, more insidious plot that he's preparing. I'm convinced that Kaiji has been up to something during all of those bathroom breaks.

    1. I don't know man, this plan was actually good.

    2. If you prefer, it's probably more like that he hoped he could win at one stroke with this plan, but also has another, more long term plan running in the background just in case. The nice thing is that everyone is going to assume that trying to catch the President cheating was Kaiji's sole reason for leaving, leaving them completely unprepared for when he springs plot #2.

  12. Haha after seeing Kaiji leave with his hand, the thought of using the process of elimination on the 136 Mahjong tiles crossed my mind. But the president's counter excuse of holding the door while looking for his fallen tiles was brilliant and something I didn't count on.

This Kaiji story keeps living up to the hype! Thank you so much for your work FKMTkrazy team!

  13. I actually like Muraoka character. In early chapters he was shown as someone who can win only by cheating beforehand, but now he displays some awesome thinking skills by throwing away 5 tiles wait, counting tiles on table and getting away with it.

  14. Last time I said I can know Kaiji's hand from what he has in his discards, and what he had in the beginning. But after the walls were opened, things seem to have gotten a lot more interesting. I can't wait to see what he truly is up to.

  15. Kaiji actually did what I thought I'd do (I mean walking by surprise on cheating, not beating up betrayers). But the second one was the highlight of those chapters anyway.

I'm sure he did something crazy in bathroom but obvious tile switch he left there from previous rounds is ruled out, unless Muraoka fucked up tile counting now.

  16. Haha, right at the moment when Kaiji picked up his tiles to take them with him to the bathroom, I thought the first thing Muraoka would do would be to flip up the walls and discern Kaiji's hand. But maybe I am just too familiar with the idea as it had already occured in Ten once.

Those chapters were definitely some of the most enthralling in all of DKaiji. Can't wait to see how it all plays out for Kaiji.

    Oh and, were are all you guys on Saturdays lately? Too much stuff going on for Mahjong day? ;_;

    1. You guys play in Tenhou, right? You meet up in the chat beforehand or do I just hope to bump into you guys?

Anyway, awesome chapters. Maeda and Miyoshi getting punched REALLY made my day. I'm glad Kaiji is done with those losers.

    2. We meet up in the chatbox before hand, and yes we play on Tenhou. Saturdays are very busy days for me, but hopefully this Saturday I won't be too busy and will be able to make it down there for some Mahjong action

  17. No offense to the way you guys are doing things with your releases, but i have been wondering, why have you been releasing in blocks?

Honestly, the impact of each chapter is dampened because we have a block we can read all in one go. If we were to get 1 chapter say every 2 days, that wait between each chapter would enhance the experience of each subsequent chapter. Instead of giving us all one big shotgun blast of awesome.

Don't get me wrong, seeing 4 chapters being released is awesome and I couldn't ask for better, but I think it would be much more epic if you released them separately. You're basically taking away the cliffhangers, which is what makes Kaiji so great.

    1. Because we get the translations in blocks.

    2. Do you personally think releasing them in blocks is better than spaced out one at a time?

      Delete
    3. Personally, I enjoy blocks much better than one chapter every like 2 or 3 days. You can probably expect us to go back to the 1 or 2 chapters at a time thing once we start up on Kazuya Hen while simultaneously returning to Akagi.

(Also, if you love cliffhangers, you can always just read one of the four chapters we release, then stop yourself, then after a day or so you can read another. It'll be virtually the same as us releasing just one at a time)

    4. I actually tried that with this update. You know how far I got? 40 seconds. When you got a fresh chapter of Kaiji, sitting there lookin' majestic and shit, you can't help but read it.

I guess I just like the wait between chapters. I feel like it adds to the experience. Like aging fine wine. But this is just my opinion. I know not everyone shares it.

    5. I get what you're saying, releasing chapters one at a time does give each chapter more individual personality. Like maybe you end up appreciating that chapter more and maybe getting more out of it than when you just guzzle down a bunch at once.

Glad to hear you like the wait between chapters, that's a rare gift. Use it wisely. With great power comes great responsibility.

    6. Can't please everyone. Recently, I've found it easier to proofread in blocks due to stress from school and such, is all.

      Delete
    7. Understandable. I didn't really think you guys would change it just because I said anything. I just kinda wanted to say what was on my mind about the subject. Either way you release it, I'll be happy, so you don't lose either way. ;)

    1. Kaiji: Kazuya-hen (Part 4) and Akagi for sure. The others I am not sure of.

    2. We'll be going back to doing Kaiji and Akagi at the same time, rather than having 100% of the group devoted to Kaiji
