Rude 39 Chapter 5

Haha, you thought Akagi was next? Surprise! It's another chapter of Rude 39, and in my opinion, it's a big step up from Chapter 4. In this chapter, we meet yet another member of the Miura family, Satomi's brother, Katsuhiko!

Thanks to Crump for doing double-duty on the Cleaning and Redrawing since Skutieos was not available, and to Kazuhiko for typesetting even though his hands were stiff from using a weed-wacker. Mahjong Day went well yesterday, let's get even more people this week. As always, it will be on Saturday at 22:00 GMT.

"There's always more than one way to get where you want to go!"

Katagiri is now capable of giving advice on jobs using Pachinko as a medium, despite never having held a proper job, himself. Though I suppose he did say that he just passed along some advice that he heard from someone, it was pretty interesting how he tied it into the aspect of the Justy where you can stock up on balls by aiming for the right side instead of just spending all 300 yen on the left side where you eventually need to aim. A pretty interesting message, though I don't think sucking up to your boss to get a job is anything new.

Oh, and I would've translated the title of the machine as "Justice" or something if it weren't for the fact that it's spelled out as "Justy" on the front of the machine. And it would seem like a pretty crummy design for a machine from a profit point of view... sure, it's hard to find the second road of stocking up balls, but once someone does, they have a way of always winning. Though, I suppose all the suckers who try it once and lose their money on it might make up for that.

Overall, I say this chapter was a pretty good step up from the last one. A pretty applicable moral in whatever you do, and it didn't have any obvious plot holes like punching a cop in the face with no repercussions. And Satomi was adorable, as always.

  1. Huh, I wonder if later on they'll be more "life lessons using gambling" like this.
