DKaiji Chapters 99 & 100

Well, it's not a triple release, but it's the next best thing! A Double Release!! Here's to the start of the new Volume 11! I'm going to be honest here, Kazu had Chapter 99 done two days ago; he was just waiting on me for Chapter 100. In my defense, I had a pretty killer essay due, but now they're both here, so no harm no foul, right?

Thanks to Js06 for cranking out these scripts at ridiculous rates and to Crump for being so ahead of schedule (Volume 11 is already done cleaning-wise). Thanks to Kazuhiko for helping me out as well as increasing the release rate and to Sonickrazy for adding the personality into all the character's dialogues during his proofreading.

Ah! AhhhHHHH! *Heart Attack*

Well Kaiji's hope does have some logic behind. Even if it seems like reverse-logic. Typically it would be suicidal to play a 2-man when your opponent has three 3-man, but this isn't your normal game of Mahjong. Minefield Mahjong raises the stakes so high that even a 99% guarantee still merits hesitation. Hence Muraoka's wavering when choosing whether or not to play the 3-sou, a much safer alternative. But even if the 3-sou gets through, he still needs a tile, so the 2-man is a better option, right? One turn of risk for two turns of safety! Which brings to mind Kaiji's same dilemma for Muraoka's trap the previous round. Kaiji really knows how to turn the tables, doesn't he?

And so Muraoka picks up the 2-man...winds up his arm...and...!!

The debut of Madman Kaiji

...It turns out to be the 3-sou after all. Damn, we say, but really, could it end this early? We still have three volumes to go after all! But Muraoka actually tipped over the 2-man and Kaiji saw it! And well, if Muraoka planned it to see if Kaiji would react, he's a genius. But he couldn't be that smart, could he? Regardless, Kaiji puts on a great display of self-control, and thinks of his next move. His tactic is based on playing tiles that are few and isolated, and so far the only good option is Ton. But...it's so isolated that it could be dangerous! Muraoka could have another double tenpai! Luckily for us, Kaiji doesn't spend another chapter debating it, he uses logic! And it's super-effective! Because the Ton was hidden from Maeda, there is a low chance he reported it to Muraoka, meaning that it is safe. And seeing as he has little other options, Kaiji decides to discard it.

And so one step remains...

  4. It's at the top of the download page. The naming is inconsistent for that file.

  13. You guys are awesome. I just don't like how Maeda is allowed to just actively give advice to the president right behind him... It's like.. "here's a guy that looked at your tiles and has helped me cheat, but he's going to keep talking behind me so he can give me more advice"...
