DKaiji Chapter 89

Hey guys. It's been a while. I know I said that I was gonna pick up the pace because of the DKaiji push but real life hit me hard. But it's OK because this chapter makes up for it! We finally get to see Kaiji unleash all his rage onto Maeda and Miyoshi!

Thanks to all who once again for allowing us all to view this beautiful chapter. Js06 for his scripts, Biggums for his cleans (who at this point has finished all cleans up to Volume 10 :o), and Sonickrazy for his astute proofreading.

Note from Sonickrazy: Mahjong Day is this Saturday at 22:00 GMT on http://xat.com/fkmtkrazy. Even those who don't know how to play are welcome to come and learn!

Unleash the Kaiji-Hulk.

So. What happened in this chapter? Well last time we left off, Kaiji had just pulled off his out-of-the-blue "toss my current hand and pull in a new one" tactic. And off course, he's not even close to being done with yelling at those two. Surprisingly, he doesn't even get too mad at Muraoka! I find this quite interesting, as it is a lot different from the Kaiji we remember from the beginning of the series. In the beginning, being tricked led him to becoming enraged and attacking the one who conned him. But this time, he admits to Muraoka that it was his fault for being tricked, and that the one he is really mad at, justifiably so, is at Maeda and Miyoshi.

But just as Kaiji is finished yelling at them, just as he demands from them a reason for the betrayal, they fire right back! From their point-of-view, they have all the reason to do so! Kaiji didn't give them their "fair" share after he defeated The Bog! He didn't split him generous winnings equally with them! But as selfish as it seems, the point is that they don't know that Kaiji, after a unfortunate incident, lost the majority of his money! So now what do we have? A mad Kaiji who demands a fair game, but definitely has some kind of plan, and a shocked Muraoka, who's previously "inevitable" victory has just been turned to dust.

Meanwhile, Kazuya chuckles mysteriously...

  2. I'm sure Kazuya is chuckling because he's waiting for Kaiji to reveal he has no money, and then for Muraoka to turn at light sped to Kazuya's face and for Kazuya to confirm it.

Which begs the question, since Kazuya knew he didn't have the money, and if Kaiji did actually lose 40 or even 80 million, Why lend him the money if he knew Kaiji couldn't pay him back?

Sounds like Kazuya has an ulterior motive. Being a Hyoudou, I would expect no less from him.

Perhaps this is Kaiji's recruitment to a bigger stage. The legendary gambler that has swindled the company out of hundreds of millions. Bringing his head on a platter to one of the company's games would please many people.

    1. Kazuya isn't here to make money, he's here to watch Kaiji perform. If Kaiji wins, he gets his moeny back. If he loses, Kazuya gets to have his jollies during the torture surgery. I don't think his presence at the game is a coincidence at all. I think Kazuya was the one who initially suggested Kaiji as a target for Muraoka's scam to begin with.

It's clear that Kazuya knew what was going on from the start. Midway through the game, he banished his dates because he knew that Kaiji had no money and he didn't want them around when he unveiled his "Wheel of Amputation."

I also think that Kazuya will be the vehicle for pushing Kaiji into the next gamble, whatever it will be. After all, if Kaiji just wins 180 million in this game with no strings attached, it's pretty much the end of the story without some epic ass-pulling. I'm sure that Kazuya has some sort of plan to string Kaiji along.

  4. Knowing Kaiji, he's going to feel guilty for not telling the 49ers -why- he didn't have any money to share with them.

Which is fucking bullshit, because he did most of the work to get those losers out of the mines in the first place.

But that's our stupid, lovable, naive, overly idealistic, self-sacrifing Kaiji, being harsher on himself than he is on others.

    1. Unless he's matured and grown as a person since then.

Which isn't completely out of the question, since as today's chapter against Muraoka shows he's certainly improved there, here's hoping he doesn't just do an "oh well that makes it okay then" to their explanation or any bullshit like that.

  6. I'd just like to thank you all for the hard work you've done on DKaiji. I mean, just a year or so ago the scanlation was still stuck on volume 3 or something like that. Seriously, thank you.

  7. Man, Kaiji totally destroyed Muraoka with his words. Now I'm curious to see how will Kaiji deal with this situation, thanks a lot!

  8. I can't thank the guys at FKMTkrazy enough for the fast releases.

Thanks to recent developments, Kaiji is now the #1 thing I'm looking forward to in my day, or even for the foreseeable future even against some great games that are coming out and things like that. If it weren't for you guys, I'd be tearing my hair out waiting for the next chapter and probably end up reading the raws in an attempt to figure out what goes on next.

So again, I sincerely thanks you all :)
