Rude 39 Chapter 1

And for our third release of the day, as well as our 100th overall, we have the long-requested Rude 39!! The story of a broke, divorced gambling addict who finds new love in the strangest of places...! All of our staff was involved in this, with myself as translator, Skutieos as cleaner, Kazuhiko as typesetter, and Biggums as the redrawer! Look forward to more of this series as time goes on!

So we've got this guy named Katagiri. He's broke, unemployed, and lives in a low-scale apartment. His only real activity is playing Pachinko, but he does it well enough that he can keep up his lifestyle. But one day, he meets a girl named Satomi, who is apparently a big fan of his pachinko-playing. She's 16, he's 39, it certainly can never escalate to a real romantic relationship... can it? It seems as though it can! But when Satomi's father hears about it, he's none too happy to see how old Katagiri is...

Well, this first chapter was more of the love story aspect, but later chapters are pretty much all about pachinko. After discovering that the name referred to the english word "Rude" instead of something like a Pachinko machine called "RUDE", I considered revising the name to "39 and Rude" to make it sound more fitting. But then I thought about it, and it's pretty good the way it is. There's Sweet 16, Terrible 2, and a Rude 39. The usage of the word is a bit off (it's supposed to mean something like "rowdy", judging by the translation, "Akutare", above the word on the cover), but it works well enough for me to fit it into sentences and have it kinda make sense.

As for the story, Kazuhiko thinks it's a lot like a FKMT version of the movie Dirty Dancing, with a gigantic age gap between the girl and guy. It is a bit strange that he had Satomi being so young, but you can kind of see that she was fed up with being bossed around by her controlling father and ran off with Katagiri to live a more easy, exciting life, so it doesn't really matter how old she is. It's a bit "ehhh" to us over here in America, but the age of consent is very loose over there in Japan... it can range from anywhere between 13 and 18, depending on what prefecture you're in. It's not really "love" at this point, since they're just kinda running off together, but still.

This is kind of like Tenma in that it's very light-hearted and can be comedic at points, so I can only assume that most of FKMT's early works were like that. I think a lot of people will enjoy this, especially when the story focuses more on Pachinko. Tell me what you think!

Been following since the very first Dkaiji & akagi. Hands down my favourite team for many reasons. Extra special thanks to you Sonic - seeing you go from fellow leecher to a FKMT dedicated TL god has been awe inspiring.

Please keep up the hard work
